The Lion In Winter by James Goldman reigns over Cape May Stage August 8th-September 14th playing Tuesday-Sunday at 8 PM. As a historical fiction, this modern classic pits Queen Eleanor of Aquitaine, after a decade of imprisonment for her part in a rebellion against her husband King Henry II of England. Eleanor arrives at court during a Christmas furlough and proceeds to scheme to challenge the King's authority and his choice of heir to the throne.

Continuing at Cape May Stage is Chapter Two by Neil Simon. This charming romantic comedy opened on June 27th and runs through August 3rd. Set in Manhattan in the 1970s, Chapter Two tells the story of successful writer George Schneider, who is mourning the recent death of his beloved wife when he meets a bright, vivacious actress. George is eager to rush into another marriage following a whirlwind courtship, but the memories of his wife threaten to ruin his second chance for happiness. This witty romance deals with more than love and grief, but what it means to have a fresh start and a new lease on life.

Cape May Stage, a premiere professional not-for-profit Equity theatre, is focused on yet another captivating, record-breaking season. The 2018 season will feature five main stage plays in the intimate Robert Shackleton Playhouse. In a proclamation dated September 19, 2017, Morristown Mayor Timothy P. Dougherty declared that October 23, 2017 will be known as New Jersey Theatre Alliance Day. On that day, New Jersey Theatre Alliance ( the Alliance ) will host Curtain Call, its annual celebration of theatre, at the Westin Governor Morris in Morristown, honoring the artistic directors of its member theatres for their dedication and artistic vision, and Atlantic Health System for its support of theatre programming that enhances the health and wellbeing of New Jersey residents. The event, which is open to the public, will take place from 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. and includes buffet stations, wine and beer, entertainment, a silent auction, and a raffle.

Cape May history comes to life at Cape May Stage this holiday season at the world premiere of 'A Cape May Christmas,' opening Friday, November 27. Cape May Stage is located at 405 Lafayette Street in Cape May. On Saturday, November 28, Cape May Stage will also present 'The Twelve Dates of Christmas' at Congress Hall, 200 Congress Place, Cape May. Both plays were created by women playwrights, the sixth and seventh productions in a season of all-female playwrights in 2015.
