New York Theatre Workshop (NYTW) Artistic Director James C. Nicola and Managing Director William Russo, and The Acting Company Producing Artistic Director Margot Harley have announced that The Heart Is a Lonely Hunter, written by Rebecca Gilman, based on the novel by Carson McCullers, directed by Doug Hughes, will begin performances Friday, November 13, 2009, at 7pm, at NYTW, 79 East 4th Street, between Second Avenue and Bowery.

New York Theatre Workshop (NYTW) Artistic Director James C. Nicola and Managing Director William Russo have announced that Things of Dry Hours, written by Naomi Wallace and directed by Ruben Santiago-Hudson, will begin performances Friday, May 22, at NYTW, 79 East 4th Street, between Second Avenue and Bowery. Opening night is scheduled for Monday, June 8 at 7:00pm. The production will run through Sunday, June 28.

The most awarded African-American playwright in history, August Wilson's crowning achievement was his ten-play cycle, August Wilson's 20th Century in which each work is set in a different decade in the 1900's. The cycle, often titled the Pittsburgh Cycle because nine of the ten plays are set in Pittsburgh, chronicles the African-American experience in the 20th century. August Wilson's 20th Century will be presented in a series of staged readings at the Kennedy Center.

Disney ABC TV Group Casting Presents 6th NY Actors Showcase

As part of its continuing effort to find and develop culturally and ethnically diverse talent and actors with disabilities, the Disney ABC Television Group's Casting Project will hold its latest showcase featuring 11 promising actors. The showcase, the sixth one to be held in New York, will take place at the Michael Schimmel Center For the Arts at Pace University, 3 Spruce Street between Park Row and Gold Street, on Monday, October 22.
