SHAKE IT UP Season Premiere to Air 10/14 on Disney Channel by TV News Desk - Oct 10, 2012
The third season of the dance-driven, buddy comedy 'Shake It Up,' the #1 live-action TV series in its time period to date among Kids 2-11 and Kids 6-11, will premiere SUNDAY, OCTOBER 14 (9:00-9:30 p.m., ET/PT) on Disney Channel. The new season finds Rocky and CeCe trying to keep their dance careers alive after the 'Shake It Up Chicago' set is ruined; and includes guest stars Tyra Banks, reprising her role as the librarian, Alfonso Ribeiro and Disney XD's Leo Howard; and a special performance by the grand-prize winner of 'Make Your Mark: Shake It Up Dance Off 2012,' Disney's popular talent competition exclusively for kids and tweens. Justin Bieber and Olympic Gold medalist Gabby Douglas appear, Debby Ryan ('Jessie') and Roshon Fegan ('Shake It Up,' 'Dancing with the Stars') will once again host and platinum recording artist Cher Lloyd and top choreographer Rosero McCoy are set to judge Disney Channel's popular talent competition for kids, 'Make Your Mark: Shake It Up Dance Off.' Disney Channel has ordered a third season of the dance-driven buddy comedy 'Shake It Up,' it was announced today by Adam Bonnett, Senior Vice President, Original Programming, Disney Channels Worldwide. 'Shake It Up' premiered in November 2010, ranked as the #1 series of 2011 among Tweens 9-14 and for second quarter 2012-to-date, is the #1 TV series among Kids 2-11 (2.0 million/4.9 rating) and Kids 6-11 (1.6 million/6.7 rating) [Source: NTI, U.S. ratings, most current, as dated]. DANCING WITH THE STARS: Week 8 Recap by Tyler Peterson - May 08, 2012
This week, DANCING contestants now have double the chances to end up in a full-body cast; for the first time this season, the competitors performed two separate routines, unguided by stipulations or other frivolous themes. Also, with two performances, come two eliminations tomorrow. The second routines featured past DANCING pros (both in the competition and the troupe), creating trios that were often, well, off.

After umpteen seasons, it's clear DANCING WITH THE STARS can't demand its contestants abandon their sexy schtick, the costumes, the puffery that all makes DANCING what it is. So when designated Classical Week comes around, interesting combinations arise. Only so many competition shows can ask its contestants to marry Mozart with an ass-shake. Alas, these two seemingly unrelated aspects of human culture must of course be manhandled by DANCING, and the audience gets Classical Week.

During Tuesday's DANCING WITH THE STAR results show, two more couples had to face the dreaded 'dance duel'. In the end, the judges decided to save Disney star Roshon Fegan and his partner Chelsie Hightower and send home music legend Gladys Knight and her partner Tristan Macmanus. (more...)
