Valarie Pettiford Stars in BATTLEFIELD AMERICA, 6/1; Releases CD VELVET SKY 9/18

Actor Valarie Pettiford, star of the hit sitcom Half & Half and last years box office success Jumping the Broom, will star in the new film Battlefield America, which opens theatrically on June 1, 2012, She will also take on a recurring guest starring role on HBOs Treme this fall. With the release of her second full-length album, a collection of original lullabies called Velvet Sky in September, Pettiford is turning the page and entering new chapter of her career. ( more...)

Jim Caruso's Cast Party packed Birdland with a huge variety of talent on Monday night. The weekly open mic, recently called "the best party in the universe" by the Australian Cabaret Confidential, was the place for Broadway folk like Amra-Faye Wright (currently starring as Velma in Chicago), supperclub star Clint Holmes (in rehearsal for his upcoming Café Carlyle run), country legend Larry Gatlin, jazz superstars Jane Monheit, Natalie Douglas and Sachal Vasandani, publicist and birthday boy Richard Hillman, "Broadway Beat" host Richie Ridge, musical director/pianist Ron Abel, cabaret folks like Scott Coulter and Carole J. On March 18, cabaret performer Jamie deRoy hosted an evening of her Multi MAC Award-winning variety show, Jamie deRoy & Friends at the intimate cabaret hot-spot Metropolitan Room.
Joining Jamie on this spring evening were classical violinist Daisy Jopling, comedy's lovable Queen of Mean, Lisa Lampanelli, ten-time MAC Award winner and three-time Bistro Award winner Karen Mason (Wonderland, Mamma Mia!); Tony Award nominee Valarie Pettiford (Fosse, Sophisticated Ladies), writer/comedian/political satirist and CBS & Food Channel personality Mo Rocca and award-winning songwriter (The River, Garth Brooks; Nobody Wants To Be Lonely, Ricky Martin & Christina Aguilera) and recording artist, Victoria Shaw.
