Eddie Perfect Responds to KING KONG Musical's Critics

In response to Woodhead's comments, Australian theatre star Eddie Perfect took to Facebook, saying: 'I agree with Cameron [Woodhead], and I'd add something further. There's a convenient narrative springing up online (and elsewhere) that the creator's of Kong spent five years of developmental resources on the gorilla but neglected the book, music and lyrics. Without putting it too harshly, I think that's idiotic.' (more...)

The esteemed off-Broadway company, which is wrapping up one of its most successful seasons ever, will kick off its 2013/2014 Season in September with the previously announced new production of Shakespeare's Romeo & Juliet, featuring acclaimed rising film actress Elizabeth Olsen (Martha Marcy May Marlene) andFinn Wittrock, who won raves last season on Broadway in Death of a Salesman. Houston Symphony to Perform ROMEO & JULIET OVERTURE at Miller Outdoor Theatre, 6/28

On June 28, the Houston Symphony will perform a free concert as part of the ExxonMobil Summer Symphony Nights series at Miller Outdoor Theatre. The concert will feature the famous Romeo and Juliet Overture by Tchaikovsky, followed by popular works from Mendelssohn and Schumann. Led by American conductor Case Scaglione, the concert will also feature pianist Kuok-Wai Lio. Born in Macau, Kuok-Wai has gained worldwide recognition performing with various orchestras and for multiple festivals and competitions. Kuok-Wai will be making his Houston debut performing Mendelssohn's Piano Concerto in G Minor. (more...)

Long Island Shakespeare Festival to Present Free Performances of ROMEO & JULIET, 7/3-14

Suffolk County Community College is pleased to announce that The Long Island Shakespeare Festival will offer free public performances of an abridged version of Shakespeare's Romeo and Juliet during summer 2013. The 13th season performances will be presented, rain or shine, at Suffolk County Community College's Ammerman Campus in Selden. The performances are free to the public and are funded by the Suffolk Community College Association - Ammerman Campus. (more...)
