Todd Schroeder has announced the talent line up for his 18th Annual Young Artist Benefit Concert in Sonora, California on May 18th. Headlining the show is Harry Middlebrooks, wrtter of the smash hit 'Spooky' in 1967; Robyn Spangler, BroadwayWorld's 2011 Cabaret Artists of the Year; Multi-platinum selling songwriter Kevin Fisher and many more; Songwriter and recording artist Brooke Lundy and many more. Nominations Annouced in 20 Categories for First-Ever BWW New York Cabaret Awards - Cast Your Votes NOW!

After receiving more than 3,000 nominations once BroadwayWorld.com announced it's first-ever New York Cabaret Awards in early October, BWW is now pleased to announce it's final nominations ballot in 20 categories. Now it's time for all you cabaret performers and fans to vote for the best singers, musicians and shows of the year. Voting will continue until December 31 and winners will be announced in early January. (more...)

BWW Reviews: Robyn Spangler Sparkles in Linda Ronstadt Tribute Show at Metropolitan Room

During her recent two-night run at the Metropolitan Room (July 11, 12), Los Angeles-based nightclub singer and actress Robyn Spangler gingerly walked the tribute show tightrope and made it to the other side intact. Her show "Why I Love Linda Ronstadt" - which earned her a 2011 BroadwayWorld.com honor as L.A.'s "Best Female Cabaret Artist - was an honest and heartfelt homage to her singing heroine. Her Ronstadt show hit almost all the right tribute notes, with solid arrangements from her Musical Director/Pianist Todd Schroeder (who also provided nifty backup vocals) that were reverential without being replications. On Friday June 22, Robyn Spangler brought back her revered show in honor of Linda Ronstadt - Why I Love Linda Ronstadt - to the Gardenia for one night only. After reviewing the CD last November, I was more than impressed with Spangler's talent and easy listening vocal quality. But what she gave me in person as a performer far surpassed my imaginings! Accessible, friendly with an aura of poise and self-confidence, Spangler is a vibrant night club singer who fully engages and entertains her audience. I had such a good time, when the hour was over, I wanted to cry out for more...more Nelson Riddle, more Gilbert and Sullivan! Leaving an audience wanting more is a sign of a truly great cabaret artist, and Robyn Spangler fills the bill. (more...)
