PSYO Presents Spring 2013 Concert as Conductor Maxim Eshkenazy's Farewell Today by BWW News Desk - Mar 10, 2013
It's a fond farewell for Pacific Symphony's beloved Assistant Conductor Maxim Eshkenazy, as he leads Pacific Symphony Youth Orchestra (PSYO) in their 2012-13 'Spring Concert.' During his five-year tenure as music director of PSYO, Eshkenazy has enhanced the ensemble's creativity through unique collaborations, performances of contemporary music, interdisciplinary projects and its first international tour to his native country, Bulgaria. In 2012, the ensemble was named Youth Orchestra of the Year by Classics Alive, and a record-breaking 402 people auditioned for the current season. In the spirit of these accomplishments, the Pacific Chorale Honor Choir (PCHC), led by Robert Istad, joins PSYO (for the fourth time) in a performance of masterpieces and music that holds a personal connection to the maestro. The Franklin Performing Arts Company (FPAC) presents Culinary Cabaret tonight, March 8, from 7-10 p.m. at Clarke, The Ultimate Kitchen Resource and Culinary Center, 393 Fortune Boulevard in Milford. The evening features inspired cuisine and creative cooking demonstrations by area chefs and culinarians, along with wine tastings, a silent auction, and entertainment by Electric Youth and FPAC special guest artists. Met Music Director James Levine will return to the Met podium for the first time in two years, conducting three operas with which he has long been associated: a new production of Verdi's final masterpiece Falstaff, Mozart's Cosi fan tutte, and Berg's Wozzeck. Robert Hardy Withdraws from THE AUDIENCE by BWW News Desk - Feb 25, 2013
The producers of The Audience today announced Robert Hardy's decision to withdraw from the production. Hardy, 87, recently suffered a fall and cracked some ribs, yet continued to perform at all of the preview performances last week. Over the weekend he has decided that a schedule of eight performances a week over a long run is not sustainable and he has therefore reluctantly decided to stand down. The Producers would like to thank Robert Hardy for his extraordinary contribution to the production and they wish him a speedy recovery. (more...)
