Val Kilmer's CITIZEN TWAIN Comes to Culver City, 6/28-7/14 by BWW News Desk - May 16, 2013
Val Kilmer, famous for his portrayals of iconic characters such as Jim Morrison (The Doors), Doc Holliday (Tombstone) and Batman (Batman Forever), inhabits the spirit of yet another legendary figure: Mark Twain. Kilmer continues to develop Citizen Twain, a solo show about the man considered to be the world's greatest storyteller, at the Kirk Douglas Theatre in Culver City, June 28 to July 14 for a limited three-week engagement, followed by this fall by performances in London's West End. The times are a changin' and so are The Wiggles. After 21 years of entertaining children around the globe, The Wiggles will introduce three new cast members including the first-ever female member, Emma Watkins. These vibrant new Wiggles will bring the "Taking Off!" worldwide tour to the Fox Theatre on Sunday, September 22 at 2:30 p.m. in support their new album of the same name (available May 7th on Razor & Tie). The Taking Off! DVD is slated for release later this summer, and a new television series will debut on Sprout in the fall. (more...)

An Ambassador for World Peace, Patricia Kennedy designed the Peace One Earth Medallion in 2008 as a tribute to our soldiers from past and present conflicts. The distinctive design of the medallion expresses gratitude to the defenders of our freedoms, while acknowledging the hope for a world at peace. The medallion has been presented to many dignitaries, public figures, and members of our military in honor of their efforts to improve the lives of our veterans, and their commitment towards world peace. The first recipient was Wayne Newton* for his dedication to our troops and veterans through his extraordinary work with the USO. The Actors Fund's annual gala yesterday evening at the New York Marriott Marquis raised a record-breaking $1.4 million, as more than 750 guests gathered to honor Academy Award-winning actor Robert De Niro, the pay television company HBO and entrepreneur/film producer and Fund trustee and treasurer Steve Kalafer. Meera Menon Wins Tribeca Film Festival's 2013 Nora Ephron Prize by BWW News Desk - Apr 25, 2013
The 12th annual Tribeca Film Festival (TFF), presented by American Express, today announced the winner of the inaugural Nora Ephron Prize at the annual Women's Filmmaker Brunch held at Company 3 . The prize, presented by TFF co-founder Jane Rosenthal and Sally Singer, creative digital director, Vogue, was awarded to first-time writer/director Meera Menon (Farah Goes Bang). Menon was selected out of eight 2013 TFF filmmakers to receive a cash prize of $25,000 for work and talent that embody the spirit and vision of the legendary filmmaker and writer.
