Hollywood! Hollywood! Midtown to Play International Theatre Festival and Write Act Repertory by BWW News Desk - Jun 15, 2013
Hollywood! Hollywood! is a happy, fun-filled musical journey following the lives of Ryan, a handsome auto-mechanic; Melanie, a pretty waitress; Claire, an office-temp; Trudy, a cosmetics saleswoman; Jay, an entertainer for all occasions, and their friends, Orlando, Armando, Eva, Amanda and Concepcion-all pursuing their dreams of becoming paid actors in the Hollywood film industry. We then meet Laura Tanner, Hollywood's most glamorous movie star who is making appearances all over town. She's promoting her new autobiography with hired escort, Vincent the Magnificent-the hunky, ex-Chippendale dancer, and Freddy, her publisher and the one true love of her life. Through song and dance, laughter and tears, joy and sorrow they all come together to tell their tales in the exciting new musical, Hollywood! Hollywood! (more...)

Dallas Theater Center will conclude its four-year Shakespeare cycle with one of the playwright's greatest tragedies King Lear, a co-production with Trinity Repertory Company and directed by DTC artistic director Kevin Moriarty. King Lear opens for previews on Friday, January 18 and runs through Sunday, February 18. (more...)

"Children of Paradise," a play with mime that draws its inspiration from the classic of French film, comes to life in a physically demanding new staging written and directed by Richmond Shepard. With music direction by Harrison Wade, and a cast of 14, "Children of Paradise" parts the curtains on a small French theatre in the 1800's, The Funambules, where Jean Baptiste Gaspard Debureau was the first mime to play Pierrot as the leading character, supplanting Harlequin. Anton Floyd, Jaime Lincoln Smith and Terrell Wheeler will star in Luna Stage's world premiere of Carnaval, Obie-Award winning playwright Nikkole Salter's provocative new play about the demand side of sexual tourism. Floyd, Smith and Wheeler, three young African-American actors, were attracted to the contemporary nature of the play upon first read, and impressed with Salter's ability to write from a male perspective.
