Disney's THE LION KING has been confirmed for a multiple-week limited return engagement at the SAN DIEGO CIVIC THEATRE beginning OCTOBER 13 and playing through NOVEMBER 8, 2009. This North American National Tour is currently one of seven productions running worldwide along with New York, London, Hamburg, Tokyo, Paris, and Fukuoka. Opening night in San Diego is Thursday, October 15; with preview performances starting Tuesday, October 13, 2009.

As part of their private visit to London, First Lady Michelle Obama and First Daughters Sasha and Malia Obama joined an audience of over 2000 theatre-goers at the Tuesday, June 9th West End performance of Disney's THE LION KING at the Lyceum Theatre. The visit to the award-winning musical was in celebration of Sasha's 8th birthday.

The Las Vegas premiere of Disney's award-winning Broadway phenomenon THE LION KING, the first-ever Disney theatrical production to launch in Vegas, opened last week at the Mandalay Bay Theatre and has been enthusiastically embraced by local theatrical reviewers.

Eight new productions, four of which are company premieres, will highlight the Metropolitan Opera's 2009-10 season. General Manager Peter Gelb and Music Director James Levine jointly announced plans that include: the Met premieres of Rossini's Armida, Verdi's Attila, Jan?ček's From the House of the Dead, and Shostakovich's The Nose; new productions of Bizet's Carmen, Offenbach's Les Contes d'Hoffmann, Thomas's Hamlet, and Puccini's Tosca; and 18 revivals from the company's repertory. The cast of Disney's THE LION KING will perform on NBC's Today Show this Thursday, June 12 between 8:30am and 9:00am Eastern.
