The producers of Benny Andersson and Bjorn Ulvaeus' MAMMA MIA!, the smash hit musical based on the songs of ABBA, have announced casting for the upcoming National Tour. MAMMA MIA! is one of the most successful musicals of all time, the eighth longest running show in Broadway history and one of only five musicals to have run for more than ten years on Broadway. The West End production is now in its eighteenth year. To date, MAMMA MIA! has been seen by over 60 million people worldwide in 50 productions in 16 different languages. MAMMA MIA! will embark on a farewell tour in the 2016-17 season, which also marks its fifteenth year on the road. Leading the cast of 30 is Sarah Wyatt as 'Donna Sheridan,' the independent single mother whose carefree past catches up with her on the eve of her daughter's wedding. Bride-to-be 'Sophie Sheridan' is played by Lizzie Markson; her fiance 'Sky' is played by Dustin Harris Smith. Sarah Smith and Betsy Padamonsky play Donna's best friends and former back-up band, 'Rosie' and 'Tanya,' (respectively) who reunite with their best friend on the island for Sophie's wedding. The three men from Donna's past and Sophie's possible dads are Shai Yammanee ('Sam Carmichael'), Marc Cornes ('Bill Austin'), and Andrew Tebo ('Harry Bright'). Sophie's & Sky's best friends are played by Chloe Kounadis ('Ali'), Niki Badua ('Lisa'), Austin Michael ('Pepper') and Max Ehrlich ('Eddie'). After enjoying its World Premiere engagement earlier this spring at the Playroom Theater, A Class Act, the inaugural and relevant new play by attorney and playwright Norman Shabel, will now hold court at New World Stages  - Stage 5(340 West 50th Street - between 8th & 9th Avenues) for a summer run.  Produced by Eric Krebs, performances will begin on Saturday, July 9 at 8pm and continue through Sunday, September 4.

George Takei, who recently starred in the Broadway musical Allegiance, has been cast as 'Reciter' in Classic Stage Company's upcoming production of Stephen Sondheim and John Weidman's PACIFIC OVERTURES, to be directed by Tony Award winner (and 2016 Tony Award nominee) John Doyle, who this season takes the reins as Artistic Director of the vital East Village theater company.

Classic Stage Company has announced that Mirirai Sithole is this year's recipient of the Rosemarie Tichler Fund grant. The Fund was established in 2010 with the mission to assist young actors who have appeared at CSC and who have recently made the transition from their training into the profession. The $3,000 grant can be used by the young artist to continue training or to offset loans they may have incurred while studying their craft. With the grant, CSC hopes to make a difference in the lives of young actors at the start of their careers as well as to heighten awareness in the community to the specific needs of actors.

Michael C. Hall will headline a one-night night only reading of Will Eno's play GNIT, adapted from Henrik Ibsen's PEER GYNT Monday evening, June 20 at 7 pm at CSC (136 East 13th Street) as part of the theater's FIRST LOOK FESTIVAL IBSEN, presented in conjunction with the company current production of PEER GYNT, directed by John Doyle and runs through this Sunday, June 19.

MAMMA MIA!, the smash hit musical based on the songs of ABBA, will hold an open call casting search for the roles of Donna and Sam as it embarks on its National Farewell Tour. Performances at the Boston Opera House May 30 - June 4, 2017. MAMMA MIA! is a Season special and part of the 2016/2017 Lexus Broadway In Boston Season.

Today Richard East and Dennis Smith the Producers of Georgy Girl - the Seekers Musical confirmed that Georgy Girl will not be playing in Brisbane during the current Australian tour. 

There's a lot to learn about the two actors - Kyra Belle Johnson, who's cast as Sophie, and Stephen Ecklemann, who takes on the role of her boyfriend Sky - playing the young leads in Mamma Mia!, the ABBA-inspired musical that lands at Nashville's Tennessee Performing Arts Center next Today night for an eight-performance run.
