THE HOBBIT Crosses $1 Billion in Worldwide Box Office Sales

"The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey" has surpassed the billion dollar milestone at the worldwide box office. The joint announcement was made today by Toby Emmerich, President and Chief Operating Officer, New Line Cinema; Gary Barber, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer, Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer Studios; Dan Fellman, President of Domestic Distribution, Warner Bros. Final Film in THE HOBBIT Trilogy Pushed to Dec. 2014

According to Deadline, Warner Bros. has bumped the release date for the final film in THE HOBBIT trilogy, THERE AND BACK AGAIN, to December 17, 2014. The film was originally set for a theatrical release on July 18, 2014. (more...)

THE HOBBIT to be Released on DVD & Blu-ray, 3/19

From Academy Award-winning filmmaker Peter Jackson comes "The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey," a production of New Line Cinema and Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer Pictures (MGM), arriving on Digital Download on March 12th and on Blu-ray Combo Pack, Blu-ray 3D Combo Pack and 2-Disc DVD Special Edition on March 19th from Warner Bros. Home Entertainment. All disc versions feature UltraVioletÔ and over 130 minutes of bonus content.The first of a trilogy of films adapting the enduringly popular masterpiece The Hobbit, by J.R.R. Tolkien, "The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey," which is nominated for three Academy Awards*, is an epic adventure that immerses audiences once again in the fantastical world of Middle-earth. WaterTower Music has announced the release of The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey Original Motion Picture Soundtrack at all retailers today, December 11th. The soundtrack will be available both digitally and as a 2 CD set. A Special Edition of the soundtrack featuring six exclusive bonus tracks, seven extended score cues, and deluxe liner notes will also be available today, December 11. (more...)

WaterTower Music has announced the release of The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey Original Motion Picture Soundtrack at all retailers on December 11th. The soundtrack will be available both digitally and as a 2 CD set. A Special Edition of the soundtrack featuring six exclusive bonus tracks, seven extended score cues, and deluxe liner notes will also be available December 11. The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey features original score by Academy Award® winner Howard Shore recorded at famed Abbey Road studios by the London Philharmonic Orchestra. Additionally it includes an original song entitled "Song of the Lonely Mountain," written and performed by Neil Finn (Crowded House). The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey, the first of a trilogy of films from Oscar-winning filmmaker Peter Jackson (The Lord of the Rings Trilogy), will be released in the U.S. on December 14, 2012. Advance Tickets for THE HOBBIT Go On Sale This Wednesday, 11/7

As Deadline reported this weekend, advanced tickets to Peter Jackson's upcoming, sprawling epic THE HOBBIT: AN UNEXPECTED JOURNEY are set to go on sale this Wednesday, Nov. 7. Tickets are available online or at theater box offices beginning at 12 PM Eastern Time. The film opens Dec. 14.
