FLASH FRIDAY: From Stage To Screen: George Clooney, FARRAGUT NORTH & THE IDES OF MARCH
by Pat Cerasaro - Jul 29, 2011

Today we are shining a special solo spotlight highlighting a particularly thrilling new theatrically-related entertainment entity on the not-too-distant horizon: the just-released trailer for George ClooneyÂ’s feature film adaptation of Beau WillimonÂ’s 2004 prize-winning play FARRAGUT NORTH, a thinly-veiled account of a Howard Dean-esque presidential candidate and his corrupt rise to power (or, more to the point: his grasps at power, and failing). Boasting an all-star ensemble culled from the best of Broadway and Hollywood - among them, charismatic leading man Ryan Gosling alongside Clooney himself, who also directs, produces and co-wrote the script with Willimon and Grant Heslov - the cast also includes Philip Seymour Hoffman, Paul Giamatti, Marisa Tomei, Jeffrey Wright and Evan Rachel Wood. The film is set to be released, poised for early Oscar season consideration, on October 7, following its premiere at the Venice Film Festival in August. (more...)
