Playwrights' Arena, the only theater created and dedicated to producing bold new works for the stage written exclusively by Los Angeles playwrights, will be celebrating its 26th Anniversary with their annual fundraising gala, HOT NIGHT IN THE CITY. East West Players (EWP), the nation's longest-running professional theater of color and the largest producing organization of Asian American artistic work, is pleased to announce the appointment of five new members to the Board of Directors: Jason M. Blackwell, Reggie Lee, Rose Chan Loui, Sally Pai Unruh, and Jeff Yang. The new appointments hail from diverse backgrounds in finance, media, television, film, and philanthropy, and arrive at a significant time for the organization as EWP embarks on the biggest season in its 52-year history, which includes the Los Angeles premiere of the Broadway musical Allegiance, in partnership with Japanese American Cultural & Community Center (JACCC).

The Los Angeles Drama Critics Circle is proud to announce a new special award to be presented at its upcoming awards ceremony on March 20: The Gordon Davidson Award for distinguished contribution to the Los Angeles theatrical community. The award is sponsored by the Center Theatre Group, where Gordon Davidson served as the founding Artistic Director from 1967 to 2005, and will be presented this year to Pro99.

Following critical acclaim for the world premiere of The Two Kids That Blow Shit Up, by Carla Ching, Artists at Play (AAP) maintains their growing commitment to developing new works into 2017. As they aim to tell the stories of diverse communities in Los Angeles theatre, AAP is partnering with the Japanese American Cultural & Community Center and the Los Angeles Public Library this season as well as tackling another world premiere production.
