Philadelphia Young Playwrights (PYP), in collaboration with Philadelphia's InterAct Theatre Company, will present four staged performances by winning student writers from the 2010 Young Voices High School Monologue Festival. The festival will end on February 6, 2010.

On October 15, 16 and 17, Greater Philadelphia's most compelling young writers will team up with some the region's most respected theatre artists to have their plays presented at Tomlinson Theater.

PlayPenn, Philadelphia's professional new play development organization, will hold its fifth annual New Play Development Conference on July 10-July 26 at the Adrienne Theater (2030 Sansom Street) in Philadelphia. The Conference will feature two weeks of intensive work on six works-in-progress by Frances Ya-Chu Cowhig (410 [Gone]); Mary Hamilton (We Three); Michael Hollinger (Ghost-Writer); Arden Kass (Appetite); John Orlock (The Specificity of Paradise); and J.T. Rogers (Blood and Gifts).

Philadelphia Theatre Workshop is nurturing four rising playwrights with ties to the region as their works are presented at the Second Annual PlayShop Festival. This festival, which opens March 7, will present these works in repertory over several weekend performances, while the playwrights, directors, and cast have opportunities to develop the work during the week. This festival ends March 22 and will be held at the Shubin Theatre, 407 Bainbridge Street. Tickets are available online at www.philadelphiatheatreworkshop.org and cost $8-$10.
