In positive news, Moulin Rouge! is getting a new Harold Zidler beginning in January. The show will welcome Eric Anderson in the role of the club impresario beginning Tuesday, January 18, 2022

A video for “She Has Hope” performed by Brian d’Arcy James and composer Tom Kitt. Produced alongside Project ALS, the video is a beautiful tribute to late Broadway star Rebecca Luker, who passed away from ALS. The video features never-before-seen footage of the Tony-nominated actress as well as videos of other women diagnosed with the disease.

The University of Montevallo held a dedication ceremony on November 18th for its new Center for the Arts facility. The university unveiled the Rebecca J. Luker Stage in the DiscoverShelby Theatre, named after its alum, the late Rebecca Luker. Luker graduated from the University of Montevallo in 1984.

The one constant in all Sierra Boggess' roles is a heavenly voice that sounds so effortless it hides the stunning technique that lies beneath. She has a lightness of tone that is completely conversational in every register and diction that is enviable. But beyond all these technical gifts, Boggess is masterful at living inside any given lyric without imposing anything on it. She just lets the words do the work. In that, she is a worthy successor to Barbara Cook.

In honor of Luker, a six-time judge for the competition, the Lotte Lenya Competition has created the Rebecca Luker Award, given for an outstanding performance of a selection from a Golden Age musical. The first Luker award was given to Taylor-Alexis DuPont for her performance of “Supper Time,” from As Thousands Cheer.
