Dana Ivey, Rebecca Brooksher, et al. Set for SUDDENLY LAST SUMMER Benefit, 2/13

The Acting Company will present a benefit staged reading of Tennessee Williams' Suddenly Last Summer at 7 pm on Monday, February 13 at the Mainstage Theater (Playwrights Horizons). The performance, starring Dana Ivey (The Help, Importance of Being Earnest), Rebecca Brooksher (The Good Wife), Betsy Aidem (Dreams of Flying Dreams of Falling), Chad Hoeppner (Come Back Little Sheba, Butley) Neal Huff (When I Come to Die, The Little Dog Laughed) and Pamela Nyberg (Doubt tour) will be followed by a reception with the cast and director, Jodie Markell (The Loss of a Teardrop Diamond). Ms. Ivey serves on the Board of The Acting Company; Chad Hoeppner and Pamela Nyberg are both Acting Company Alumni Members. Tickets @ $35 are available from 212-258-3111. ( more...)

The Public Theater announced complete casting today for LOVE'S LABOR'S LOST, the second Public Lab production of the fall season. Directed by Karin Coonrod, LOVE'S LABOR'S LOST runs Tuesday, October 18 through Sunday, November 6 at The Public Theater, with an official press opening on Monday, October 31. Tickets for LOVE'S LABOR'S LOST as well as TITUS ANRONICUS go on sale on Tuesday, September 13; All tickets for Public Lab productions are $15. ( more...)

Stephen R. Buntrock, Jenny Powers, Mia Dillon et al. Join Berkshire Theatre Fest.

Berkshire Theatre Festival has announced additional casting for this summer's productions. The new cast members include Tony winners and nominees, multiple veterans of Broadway and Off Broadway as well as many returning BTF alumni. Husband and wife Stephen R. Buntrock and Erin Dilly will be working together on the world premiere of In the Mood. Jenny Powers and Angela Robinson have joined the cast of The Who's Tommy. Rachel Bay Jones of Broadway's Hair will take on the famed title character in Sylvia. Tony Winner Mia Dillon is joining Broadway and BTF alum C.J. Wilson and the previously announced Rebecca Brooksher in Tennessee Williams's serious comedy Period of Adjustment. Film actors Christian Coulson and Amari Cheatom will take on the world premiere two-hander Dutch Masters. ( more...)

BWW Reviews: GOLDEN AGE - A Night of Dangerous and Wonderful Emotions at the Philadelphia Theatre Company

The world premier of Terrence McNally's Golden Age at the Philadelphia Theatre Company is not to be missed. The playwright's personal love of the medium shines through brightly in his newest work. The play takes place on January 24, 1835 backstage at the Italien Opera House in Paris and centers on the composer Vincenzo Bellini at the premier of his I Puritani. This is the third play McNally has written about opera, mixing both historical facts and imagined interactions. While the play lasts almost the length of the opera itself it does not feel tedious but rather allows the audience to truly understand Bellini's emotional state. ( more...)
