San Diego's premiere Black theatre, Common Ground Theatre, is proud to announce its 2020-21 season, filled with virtual and outdoor performances around the theme of “Raising Our Consciousness to a Higher Level.” In partnership with Jacobs Center for Neighborhood Innovation, Common Ground Theatre's season seeks to provide a “common ground” for people of all ages, cultures and backgrounds to participate, interact, connect and share their love of theatre.

 Stand Up To Cancer (SU2C) and the Equity in the Arts and Culture Committee of the Brooklyn NAACP, in collaboration with Tony® and Grammy® Award nominee Valisia LeKae (Motown the Musical, The Book of Mormon), will present a one-night virtual fundraising event titled “Scenes From Sweet Lorraine The Play.” LeKae is the executive producer of the project, which is an adaptation of Sweet Lorraine, co-written by Rajendra Ramoon Maharaj and Adam Mace.

Fair Moon Stages presents 'Wishes & Dreams: A Celebration of the Music that Animates our Lives' on Sunday, November 4th,, 3pm, at The Union County Performing Arts Center in Rahway, NJ. A 30-piece orchestra and 20 vocalists performing delightfully familiar songs from animated movies highlight the concert. The event is a benefit for the company, whose mission is to present accessible and professional theater at affordable prices. Their well-received inaugural season included Disney's High School Musical, Legally Blonde and the NJ premier of Mamma Mia.

The "Little Rock Nine" made history when on the first day of school, September 4, 1957, they were barred from attending Little Rock Central High School in Little Rock, AR.  Sixty one years later (September 4, 2018), former Governor and First Lady of Arkansas - President Clinton and Secretary Clinton - attended a performance of "Little Rock."

The Off-Broadway play LITTLE ROCK hosted a special guest at last night's performance. Chelsea Clinton attended with three friends, two of whom attended Little Rock Central High School, the same school where the 'Little Rock Nine' were integrated in 1957. She led the standing ovation at the end of the show and greeted the cast and crew on stage following the performance.  LITTLE ROCK continues performances through September 8.

 Arkansas Governor Asa Hutchinson and Arkansas First Lady Susan Hutchinson were greeted by the cast of the Off-Broadwayplay Little Rock, written and directed by Rajendra Ramoon Maharaj, at The Sheen Center for Thought & Culture (18 Bleecker Street).  Little Rock is presented by Rebel Theatrical Management, LLC (Harvey Butler, producer), The Steward Family, The Steward Family Foundation, in association with The Sheen Center for Thought & Culture.  Performances began June 8, 2018 followed by opening night on June 14, 2018 for a limited engagement through September 8, 2018.
