Flamenco Festival returns to New York City Center for a 12th season of world-class flamenco dance and music with the renowned Ballet Flamenco de Andalucia, tonight, March 6 - 9, 2013. The company of 19 dancers, singers and musicians, directed by award-wining flamenco star Ruben Olmo, will present the New York premiere of Metafora, a dazzling kaleidoscope of castanets, fans, traditional flamenco bata de cola dresses, powerful footwork, demanding technique and jaw-dropping athleticism. El Zorro es un personaje creado en 1919 por el escrito Johnston McCulley para la serie de novelas 'La Maldicion de Capistrano, y fue inmortalizado en comic, en el cine, en television y recientemente en videojuegos. Arts Flamenco, a source for experiencing traditional flamenco culture and instruction in NYC, announced today that in addition to the weekly Saturday performances, a monthly performance would take place at Centro Español Theater in Astoria, Queens. La Nacional, NY's oldest Spanish Benevolent Society presenting Spanish cultural events (est'd 1868) has been hosting Alegrias, a weekly Saturday showcase for live Flamenco Theatre, since 2003. The addition of a second monthly showcase at the spacious Centro Espa?ol in Queens allows Arts Flamenco to increase availability and access to flamenco culture outside of Manhattan. (more...)

Zorro Musical Runs at Garrick Theatre Until March 14 by BWW News Desk - Mar 14, 2009
ZORRO, the new hit musical and audience favourite of the 2008 season, opened at the Garrick Theatre on 15 July 2008 to red-hot reviews and has played to rapturous ovations every night since. The show has recently received five Laurence Olivier Award nominations, including Best New Musical. Its success in London has paved the way for several confirmed future international productions of ZORRO in France, Germany, Holland, Italy, Japan, Korea and Russia. The show will complete its triumphant West End run at the Garrick Theatre on 14 March 2009 and is scheduled to open in Paris at the Folies Berg?re in October 2009.
