Age! Job! Retirement! Joy! These topics and more are whirling through the mind of Kitchen Theatre Company Artistic Director Rachel Lampert. What better way to figure them out than with a performance piece? AND, LATELY... is a piece d'occasion, a backstage brainstorm about running a theater and checking in with the rest of the world that uses music, movement and text to deliver the story. Kitchen Theatre Company Celebrates Earth Day by BWW News Desk - Apr 23, 2013
The Kitchen Theatre Company celebrated Earth Day 2013 with a press conference to announce that the theater has been awarded LEED certification from the U.S. Green Building Council. Over forty people attended the 8:30 AM celebration, which began with a welcome from Artistic Director Rachel Lampert and Managing Director Stephen Nunley. Lampert described the thinking behind the push for LEED certification: "Sustainability was the primary motivation for the Kitchen Theatre Company to find a new home, so LEED certification and all the environmental plusses of building toward that goal went hand in hand with our hopes and dreams for the future." Crooked runs from February 27 through March 17, with preview performances February 27 and 28 and March 1. Opening Night is March 2, and the closing performance is on March 17. And now for something completely different! The next offering on the Kitchen Theatre's 22nd Main Stage season is a world premiere by award winning playwright, actor and HBO Def Poet Brian Dykstra*. A solo performance that combines standup comedy with storytelling, rabble rousing and down-home preaching, Brian Dykstra Selling Out runs November 28th to December 16th at the Kitchen Theatre in downtown Ithaca. The production boasts a cast of Broadway veterans. Previews are May 30th, 31st, and June 1st, and Opening Night is Saturday, June 2nd. It runs for three weeks, closing June 17th, 2012. (more...)

Kitchen Theatre Hosts Record-Breaking Fundraiser, Dance the Night Away by BWW News Desk - May 07, 2012
On Saturday, April 28, Kitchen Theatre Company (KTC) hosted Dance the Night Away, the theatre's 21st anniversary celebration. Local celebrities and members of the KTC staff participated in a friendly dance competition. Performing the Cha-Cha with Dr. Kristna Kapur, dancer Dr. Luis Mauleon raised the most money, winning the competition and a weekend trip to New York City for two. Dance the Night Away raised a grand total of $40,000 for the Kitchen Theatre Company-the most successful fundraising event in KTC history. (more...)

Vineyard Theatre Extends NOW. HERE. THIS. Through April 28 by BWW News Desk - Apr 04, 2012
Due to critical praise and popular demand, Vineyard Theatre has announced a final extension - now through April 28 - for the new musical NOW. HERE. THIS., which opened to rave reviews and sold out houses at The Vineyard on March 28. This will be the second and final extension for the show, which must close on April 28 due to season and artist schedules. (more...)

Nathan Louis Jackson’s BROKE-OLOGY Comes to KTC, 4/4-22 by BWW

According to Ennis King, the older brother in Nathan Louis Jackson's Broke-ology that opens for previews at the Kitchen Theatre on April 4th and runs through April 22nd, he has developed a new scientific theory. As Ennis explains to his younger brother Malcolm, "Broke-ology…is a complex new science that examines two things. One, being broke. Two, staying alive despite your brokenness." Ennis and Malcolm are experts in broke-ology, and their situation is complicated by their aging father William's quickening decline. Poverty, the American dream and the ties that bind a family together are brought into focus in this new play. (more...)

THIS. which is currently receiving its world-premiere production at Vineyard Theatre (108 East 15th Street), will extend by one-week - now through April 22 - due to popular demand and strong ticket sales, it has been announced by Artistic Director Douglas Aibel, and Co-Artistic Director Sarah Stern.
