West Coast Premiere of TRIASSIC PARQ: THE MUSICAL Opens at Chance Theater Tonight

Chance Theater will present the first show of its 2013 season with a touching west coast premiere musical about dinosaurs and love, TRIASSIC PARQ - The Musical, music by Marshall Pailet, book by Marshall Pailet, Bryce Norbitz and Steve Wargo, choreographed by Kelly Todd, musical direction by Taylor Stephenson and directed by Marshall Pailet, who will be the Chance Theater's 2013 Resident Playwright (and will have two of his other works workshopped in Chance's new play reading series). TRIASSIC PARQ -THE MUSICAL opens tonight, January 30 and Thursday, January 31 and will continue through Sunday, February 24 at Chance Theater, 5552 E. La Palma Ave. in Anaheim Hills. (more...)

Jessica Chastain Rules Over Box Office; MAMA & ZERO Take Friday Night

Jessica Chastain is having a major couple of weeks. Following her Academy Award nomination for ZERO DARK THIRTY, making her Broadway debut, and winning a Golden Globe for 'Best Actress, Chastain's latest movie, MAMA, is making some major money at the box office. According to the Hollywood Reporter, the film took in $10.1 million dollars on Friday, easily claiming the top spot. Her other film, THIRY, directed by Kathryn Bigelow, took second place with $4.6M. Sony Co-Chairman: ZERO DARK THIRTY Does 'Not Advocate Torture'

Today, AMPAS member David Clennon vocally announced that he would not be voting for Zero Dark Thirty for 'Best Picture' in this year's Academy Awards race, due to its promotion of torture. Clennon said the film, 'makes heroes of Americans who commit the crime of torture.' Just this evening, Sony Co-Chairman Amy Pascal released a statement addressing Clennon's remarks. (more...)
