Ralph Howard, Veteran Radio Newscaster And Husband Of Julie Halston, Dies At 77

Ralph Howard, the celebrated news anchor whose voice and measured tones were fixtures on New York City radio for over 30 years on stations 1010 WINS, WCBS, WMCA and with Howard Stern on SIRIUS XM, died on Tuesday, August 7 in Manhattan, according to his wife, the Broadway actress Julie Halston. Mr. Howard was 77 years old. The cause of death was lung disease. In 2008, he was diagnosed with pulmonary fibrosis, but received a life saving lung transplant that allowed him to resume his work and daily life.

The Friars archives and Wikipedia have finally been corrected. Nineteen Eighty Eight was a watershed year for women. They gained membership to numerous private men's clubs that heretofore were off limits to women. The Friars, being one of the more famous of the bunch had an article heralding the event written by a less than factual reporter for The New York Times. The paper of record, in an early forerunner of fake news only listed the first 7 women and overlooked number 8...Jamie deRoy who was in that initial group, along with Liza Minnelli, Joan Rivers, Brooke Shields, and other prominent female entertainment figures was not mentioned.

Producers John Lant and Tamra Pica with Write Act Repertory are pleased to present the West Coast premiere of Elise Arndt's award-winning one-woman show SING BIBI SING! The Untold Tales of Bibi Osterwald. Opening at Write Act Repertory's home, the Brickhouse Theatre, in North Hollywood on March 30th, at 8 p.m. for seven performances, after a sold out run in New York. The musical is written by and stars Elise Arndt, the granddaughter of the late Bibi Osterwald. The show is directed by Christine O'Grady, (HAIR, tick, tick…BOOM!), with musical direction by Doug Peck and The Doug Peck Trio.
