New York UniversityÂ’s Skirball Center for the Performing Arts will present the U.S. premiere of The Dragon Child, from China ChildrenÂ’s Art Theatre, as part of the Skirball CenterÂ’s Big Red Chair Family Series. Directed by Australia's Peter Wilson, director of the Sydney Olympics Opening Ceremony, The Dragon Child blends Chinese art and culture with puppetry, theatre and animation to bring to life a story of growth, survival and hope. OUT OF THE BOX Festival Inc. FLYING ORCHESTRA Set for June 12-17 in Queensland

The 2012 Out of the Box Festival for Children was launched today, marking 20 years in the history of this landmark cultural event. This yearÂ’s Festival will run from 12-17 June and offers 90 free events, 70 in-theatre performances and more than 120 workshops. The Festival will take place in and across the Cultural Centre from its hub at QPAC to the State Library of Queensland, Queensland Museum and the Gallery of Modern Art. ( more...)

Royal Scottish Academy Student is Johanna in Sweeney Todd

Irish student Jayne Wisener has landed the dream role of Johnny Depp's daughter in the upcoming movie of the Sondheim musical, "Sweeney Todd". Though not widely broadcast, the casting was reported in the Irish press at the end of December and a spokesperson for Warner Bros. confirmed that the 19 year old second year student at the Royal Scottish Academy of Music and Drama in Glasgow had been cast.
