STEEL MAGNOLIAS Added to Target Presents AFI Night at the Movies in Hollywood

The American Film Institute (AFI) announced today that STEEL MAGNOLIAS has been added to the classic movie lineup of screenings for the special one-night-only event, Target Presents AFI Night at the Movies. 2012 AFI Life Achievement Award recipient and Oscar-winning actress Shirley MacLaine and Oscar-winning actress Sally Field will reunite to co-present the film, which will screen along with 12 other films, on Wednesday April 24 at the ArcLight Hollywood. Adding to this unique night, audience members will join Field and AFI to celebrate MacLaine with a birthday song prior to the screening. Tickets for STEEL MAGNOLIAS go on sale today at 10:00 a.m. (PT). (more...)

Unearthed after more than 40 years and unheard since their original airing, the recordings of Village Voice 'Scenes' columnist and radio personality Howard Smith are now available for the first time. Containing over 100 interviews, The Smith Tapes will be released in monthly installments on digital retailers iTunes and Amazon. Following Collection 1-Fillmore East, Collection 2 Aquarian Theatre and Collection 3-Everything's Not Okay comes Collection 4-Woodstock. This new offering features interviews with Ravi Shankar, Joe Cocker, Woodstock producers John Roberts and Joel Rosenman, Sly Stone, John Lennon and Yoko Ono from their Bed-In, live Reports from the Woodstock festival and commentary on the Woodstock film. Netflix and Queen Latifah's Flavor Unit Entertainment Announce Multi-Year Agreement

Netflix, Inc. (NFLX) and Flavor Unit Entertainment, the production company owned by Queen Latifah and Shakim Compere, today announced an exclusive licensing agreement for movies in the U.S. In the first-look deal, Netflix will have its pick of movies that will debut on the world's leading Internet television subscription service shortly after their theatrical release from the company that produced box office hits like 'Bringing Down the House' and 'Beauty Shop'. Beginning in Spring 2013, Netflix members can exclusively enjoy Flavor Unit titles including the thriller, 'House of Bodies', starring Terrence Howard and Peter Fonda and 'Percentage' starring Ving Rhames, Cam'ron and Macy Gray.
