Roulette presents "Five Beasts" a collaboration between Grammy Award winning performance artist Rinde Eckert and highly acclaimed musician Ned Rothenberg. "Five Beasts" is a set of human portraits of men and women seen as if by an animal, the language a kind of music or noise, the gestures unaccountable. We are, most of us, lost in a forest of our own design, a welter of unconscious narratives, the pull of our complicated past, an obsessive constructor of futures, howling our troubled allegory of self: this is ourmasquerade-cum-delusion. But the animal informs and teaches us - if we listen. We are absurd and amazed, and sometimes beautiful, in our utter ignorance. (more...)

Berkeley Repertory Theatre Will Open Its Season With VANYA AND SONIA AND MASHA AND SPIKE by BWW News Desk - Apr 10, 2013
Today, Berkeley Repertory Theatre revealed the seventh show selected for its upcoming season. The Tony Award-winning nonprofit will begin its 46th year of smart and adventurous shows with Vanya and Sonia and Masha and Spike, the hilarious Broadway hit from three-time Obie Award-winner Christopher Durang. Culture Project Presents 'And God Created Great Whales,' Beginning 2/7 by BWW

Now considered a prominent venue for award winning theatre, Culture Project had its humble beginnings in a former piano manufacturing factory on East 91st Street. It then moved to a lumberyard at 45 Bleecker Street which it converted into a two-theater performing arts center with Bombitty of Errors and And God Created Great Whales as its initial attractions. Now Culture Project has officially returned to 45 Bleecker making it its permanent home, and will present And God Created Great Whales, the innovative piece that launched the Culture Project into prominence over a decade ago. California Symphony Premieres Works by Cindy Cox, 3/6 by BWW

California Symphony unveils a World Premiere by internationally-recognized composer Cindy Cox in its upcoming concert, to be helmed by guest conductor George Cleve. The new work by Cox is an orchestral piece for the entire symphony with extra timpani, entitled En espiral. The program also includes the Flute Concertino, op. 107, D major by French composer Cécile Chaminade, Concerto for Clarinet and Viola, op. 88, E minor by Max Bruch, and Antonín Dvo?ák's Symphony No. 7, op. 70, D minor. This concert will be performed 4:00 pm, Sunday, March 6, 2011 at The Lesher Center for the Arts, 1601 Civic Center Drive, Walnut Creek.
