The complete cast for the Broadway revival of Meredith Willson’s The Music Man has been announced. Starring Hugh Jackman and Sutton Foster, preview performances of The Music Man are set to begin on Monday, December 20, 2021, with Opening Night scheduled for Thursday, February 10, 2022 at the Winter Garden Theatre.

There's not quite 'trouble' in River City, but, it might take a bit longer than expected for the train to reach Iowa. BroadwayWorld has just learned that the start of preview performances and the opening night of the highly-anticipated revival of Meredith Willson's The Music Man have been rescheduled. Starring two-time Tony Award®, Grammy Award®, and Emmy Award®-winning star Hugh Jackman as Professor Harold Hill, and also starring two-time Tony Award winner Sutton Foster as Marian Paroo, preview performances of The Music Man are now set to begin on Wednesday, April 7, 2021, with Opening Night scheduled for Thursday, May 20 at the Winter Garden Theatre (1634 Broadway). As a result of New York State's ban on large gatherings, rehearsals (which were to have begun June 29), will now commence on Monday, February 8.

Despite the Broadway shutdown, Harold Hill might still make it to River City on schedule. Leading man Hugh Jackman explained in a recent interview with Variety that plans have not yet changed to bring the Music Man to Broadway in the fall.

As BroadwayWorld previously reported, The Music Man is coming back to Broadway this fall, starring Hugh Jackman and Sutton Foster. The production, directed by four-time Tony Award winner Jerry Zaks, with choreography by Tony Award winner Warren Carlyle, will begin performances on Wednesday, September 9, 2020 and officially open on Thursday, October 22, 2020 at the Winter Garden Theatre. Hugh Jackman was a guest on Monday morning's episode of 'Good Morning America' to discuss his upcoming film 'Missing Link.' During the interview, he reveals that 'The Music Man,' the show he heads back to Broadway with in 2020, was actually the first musical he ever performed. In 1983, he was cast as 'Salesman 2,' and Jackman jokingly said that not getting the lead in the show is what has driven him the last 30 years.

The New York Philharmonic's annual Spring Gala will feature Tony, Grammy, and Olivier Award–winning singer and actress Patti LuPone performing songs from some of her award-winning, landmark Broadway performances. The concert, Thursday, May 16, 2019, at 7:30 p.m., will mark her first return to the New York Philharmonic after eight years. It will be conducted by Patrick Vaccariello, directed by Scott Wittman, and feature Michael McElroy and the Broadway Inspirational Voices as well as comedian / actress / singer Bridget Everett.
