Sierra Stages Presents YOU CAN'T TAKE IT WITH YOU In Nevada City

Sierra Stages completes its 10th Anniversary Season with the classic American comedy "You Can't Take It With You" by Moss Hart and George S. Kaufman, playing for three weekends only from September 20 through October 6 at the historic Nevada Theatre in Nevada City.

PALACE WRECKERS Has Extended Through June 17

Central Works 2018 season's spring production Palace Wreckers written and directed by Gary Graves, has extended through June 17 Only (originally scheduled to close June 10). A "comic thriller," this Central Works Method play was described by the press at its opening as a journey where the 'road to happiness is paved with laughter' and 'the actors play everything in deadly earnest, with outsized emotions.' Based on a Greek tragedy and turned into a contemporary comedy with the Central Works Method which brings together writer, actors and director at the very outset of the playwriting process. In a supportive workshop environment, group research and collective brainstorming contribute to the entire development of the script.

Central Works 2018 season of new plays leaps into the spring with the world premiere of Palace Wreckers, Inc, written and directed by Gary Graves, opening with a press night today, May 12, and running through June 10  (previews May 10 & 11) in architect Julia Morgan's historic Berkeley City Club. This Central Works Method play is a 'revenge comedy' - based on a Greek tragedy, turned into a contemporary comedy. The Central Works Method brings together writer, actors and director at the very outset of the playwriting process. In a supportive workshop environment, group research and collective brainstorming contribute to the entire development of the script.

The Central Works Rolling World Premiere of WINTER by Julie Jensen  has extended and must close August 20 (originally scheduled to close August 13). WINTER was described at it's premiere as "thought-provoking with a sense of urgency, and determination …" and "played brilliantly by Phoebe Moyer, vulnerable and steely-eyed strong." WINTER has an "inspired serious focus is on the right to die with dignity."

Central Works spring production, Edward King by Gary Graves, is a new comedy based on a very old story. The production opens with a press night May 13th (previews May 11th &12th), running through Jun 11 at the historic Berkeley City Club. A new comedy about finding your roots, in Edward King a hard working couple hilariously confronts the hapless enmity of fate. Lundstrum Performing Arts is excited to announce Master Classes for youth ages eight through young-adult with national performing artist  Jordan Ward. Los Angeles-based Ward is currently dancing with Justin Bieber on his international Purpose Tour, and has worked with many top artists including Prince, Prince Royce, and Becky G. He is excited to work with Minneapolis students and youth to share his passion for dance, and will teach two school workshops and six master classes later this month.

Central Works 2017 Season (CW '17) reflects the growth and compensation of more than a quarter century of new play creation. Central Works 25th anniversary season launched with Patricia Milton's Enemies: Foreign and Domestic, winner of the TBA award for "Outstanding World Premiere Play," and concluded with the SRO premiere of  Lauren Gunderson's new play Ada and the Memory Engine. The 2016 season followed with 3 productions extended after sold out performances and included CW's first NNPN Rolling World Premiere Into the Beautiful North by Karen Zacarias.  Overall box office has grown by 23% over the last two seasons.

Unrequited Love meets Unregulated Capitalism in Milton's very funny new play Hearts of Palm, developed in the Central Works Writers Workshop.  A multi-award winning playwright, Patricia Milton's hit Enemies: Foreign and Domestic, wan produced by Central Works in 2015 and awarded  "Outstanding World Premiere" by Theatre Bay Area (TBA) when judged against all Bay Area theater companies.

Set in 1973, in the formative years of the ecology movement, Project Ahab converts Moby Dick, Melville's classic story of a man bent on killing a whale, to that of a man determined to stop the killing of whales; or, 'Ahab goes after the whalers.' Central Works' 48th world premiere opens with a press night tonight, July 18 (previews July 16 & 17), and runs through August 23 at the historic Berkeley City Club.
