The New York Musical Theatre Festival (NYMF) and Aron Lewis Productions present He’s Not Himself a new musical comedy by Marc Silverberg. Michael Pantone directs a cast of five including Keith Panzarella, Marc Silverberg, Taylor Sorice, Dexter Thomas-Payne, and Carly Voight. Performances for He’s Not Himself will be held at the PTC Performance Space, 555 West 42nd Street (bet. 10th & 11th Avenues) in NYC for six performances from Monday, July 9 through Monday, July 16, 2012. Starring in the most successful movie musical of all time is a surefire way to cement yourself in the pop culture and Hollywood pantheon, but Olivia Newton-John’s participation in that generational touchstone, GREASE, was actually only the beginning of her rise to the top of the pop charts as one of the biggest entertainers in the world in the 1970s and 1980s, setting the charts afire with a string of smash hit singles such as “Physical”, “I Honestly Love You”, “Totally Hot”, “Heart Attack” and many more. Six Degrees of Marvin Hamlisch - An All Star Celebration was presented yesterday, October 4th at Symphony Space. Produced by Murphy Cross, Paul Kreppel and Bonnie Kole, the starry evening will benefit The Actors Fund and honored longtime Broadway Musical Director and keyboardist Fran Liebergall who is living with MS. Guests who appeared with Mr. Hamlisch included Lucie Arnaz, Kelly Bishop, Liz Callaway, Victor Garber, Lesley Gore, Robert Klein, Priscilla Lopez, Robert LuPone, Donna McKechnie, Donna Murphy, Jack Noseworthy, Donald Pippin, Billy Stritch, Sammy Williams and more. Ron Abel served as the evening's Musical Director. The evening was directed by Ms. Cross & Mr. Kreppel. (more...)

Tom Viertel, Chairman of the Board of the Eugene O'Neill Theater Center, has announced that Stephen Sondheim will present Harold Prince with the organization's Monte Cristo Award at a gala benefit on Monday, April 5, 2010 at Bridgewaters. The Award, given annually in recognition of a distinguished career exemplifying Eugene O'Neill's pioneering spirit and standard of excellence, has previously been presented to Kevin Spacey, Neil Simon, Jason Robards, Jr., Edward Albee, August Wilson, Zoe Caldwell, Brian Dennehy, Karl Malden, Arthur and Barbara Gelb, and Wendy Wasserstein. The York Theatre Company will continue their Developmental Reading Series with the presentation of William Zeffiro's musical, THE ROAD TO RUIN. The reading will be directed by Tony nominee Pat Birch with a cast featuring members of Marymount Manhattan College's theatre program. The readings will take place January 25th and 26th at 7:30pm. San Francisco Symphony music director Michael Tilson Thomas will take the stage at Tanglewood on Wednesday, August 19 and Thursday, August 20, to conduct the Boston Symphony Orchestra for a production of his original musical, The Thomashefskys. Inspired by his grandparents, Boris and Bessie, The Thomashefskys tells the story of the early 20th-century birth of Yiddish theater in New York. Extensive research over the past decade has revealed thousands of documents related to their story. Acting as host for the evening, Tilson Thomas presents these stories via musical performances, film, audio clips and projections of archival materials. (more...)
