Val Kilmer's CITIZEN TWAIN Comes to Culver City, 6/28-7/14

Val Kilmer, famous for his portrayals of iconic characters such as Jim Morrison (The Doors), Doc Holliday (Tombstone) and Batman (Batman Forever), inhabits the spirit of yet another legendary figure: Mark Twain. Kilmer continues to develop Citizen Twain, a solo show about the man considered to be the world's greatest storyteller, at the Kirk Douglas Theatre in Culver City, June 28 to July 14 for a limited three-week engagement, followed by this fall by performances in London's West End. BoHo Theatre to Stage HAUPTMANN, 3/22-4/21

BoHo Theatre presents Hauptmann, an examination of truth and media indictment, by lauded Chicago playwright John Logan. The production runs March 22nd through April 21st at the Heartland Studio in Rogers Park. Hauptmann is directed by Founding Artistic Director Stephen M. Genovese, who directed the critically acclaimed BoHo productions of The Rainmaker, The Glorious Ones, Sideshow, and I Am My Own Wife. The production features Jeremy Trager in the role of Richard Hauptmann. Trager was recently seen in BoHo's productions of The Spitfire Grill and Tartuffe. Hauptmann represents the Bohemian Pillar of Truth in BoHo's 2012/2013 Season. (more...)

Former rocker Stewart Copeland delves into the twisted psyche of Edgar Allan Poe's manic murderer in the US premiere of Tell-Tale Heart and Bang on a Can composer, Michael Gordon, observes the anguished spirit of a brilliant artist in the West Coast stage premiere of Van Gogh. CONFIRMED: The Weinstein Company Acquires J.D. Salinger Doc

The Weinstein Company (TWC) officially announced today their acquisition of worldwide distribution rights to the long-anticipated feature length documentary SALINGER. The film, a biography of notoriously reclusive author J.D. Salinger, is directed by Shane Salerno, who most recently co-wrote and executive produced Oliver Stone's SAVAGES. Salerno also produced the documentary along with Buddy Squires and Deborah Randall. TWC executives closed the deal on the film immediately after they screened it the morning before the Academy Awards. The company plans to show SALINGER in a number of film festivals prior to its theatrical release September 6th limited followed by an extensive rollout plan. (more...)

Kilmer continues to develop Citizen Twain, a solo show about the man considered to be the world's greatest storyteller, taking it on the road to venues including the Valley Performing Arts Center in Northridge, CA on April 6; the Wyly Theatre in Dallas, TX, April 18-21; the Del E. Webb Center for the Performing Arts in Wickenburg, AZ, May 3-4; and the Kirk Douglas Theatre in Culver City, June 28-July 28. First Time Fest (FTF) - a celebration of first time filmmakers - is a new and unique film festival taking place in New York City from March 1 through 4, 2013. Just as Stanley Kubrick had KILLER'S KISS, Darren Aronofsky PI, and John Huston THE MALTESE FALCON as their first works (all of which will be screened during the festival), First Time Fest is set to discover and present the next generation of great cinema artists. The core of the festival is an exciting lineup of twelve international films - from Argentina, Australia, Belarus, Belgium, Chile, Israel, Mongolia, and the United States, all debut films by promising and provocative directors.
