BWW TV: She's Lookin' Swell! Klea Blackhurst and Cast of Goodspeed's HELLO DOLLY Meets the Press; Plus a Performance Preview!

Dolly looks swell as ever as Goodspeed Musicals brings everyone's favorite meddlesome matchmaker to its main stage. Hello, Dolly! will run from June 28 - September 8 at the Goodspeed Opera House in East Haddam, Conn. Official Press Opening will be July 17, 2013.Leading the cast in the role of Dolly Levi will be cabaret diva Klea Blackhurst. Ms. Blackhurst is best known for her award-winning tribute to Ethel Merman, Everything the Traffic Will Allow, which she has performed in venues across the U.S. and in London. She was most recently seen in Happy Huntingat The York Theatre. She also created the role of Miss Lemon in the new musical The Nutty Professor, which premiered this past summer in Nashville.

Heidi Blickenstaff to Lead NEXT TO NORMAL at Weston Playhouse, 7/11-27

BroadwayWorld has confirmed that Broadway veteran Heidi Blickenstaff will lead Vermont's award-winning Weston Playhouse Theatre Company production of Next to Normal. Blickenstaff will play 'Diana' in the show, which is set to run July 11-27 and will be directed by Michael Berresse. (more...)

Goodspeed's 2013 Norma Terris Theatre Season will feature three musicals: a not-so-traditional barbershop quartet entertains in The Fabulous Lipitones; a marvelous summer musical yet to be announced; and Snapshots: A Musical Scrapbook, an original tuner about trusting your heart and believing in your memories which features well-known tunes from Wicked, Godspell,Pippin and many more. The epic story of King Henry V's battle with the French during the Hundred Years' War comes alive for the first time at the Folger Theatre, in William Shakespeare's historical drama Henry V. The production, directed by Robert Richmond (Othello and Henry VIII at the Folger), stars Zach Appelman (War Horse on Broadway) in his Folger Theatre debut as Henry V, and will run from January 22 - March 3, 2013. Daniel Goldstein to Take Over for Marc Bruni as Director for Goodspeed's HELLO, DOLLY!

Due to a scheduling conflict, Marc Bruni has withdrawn from directing Hello, Dolly! at the Goodspeed Opera House this season. Daniel Goldstein, director of the recent hit Broadway revival of Godspell, returns to Goodspeed Musicals where he previously directed The Unauthorized Autobiography of Samantha Brown at The Norma Terris Theatre in 2011. Mr. Goldstein will helm the much-anticipated summer extravaganza Hello, Dolly!. (more...)
