Final Cast Announced for THE CHRISTMAS ROSE at Carnegie Hall

The new family musical special, The Christmas Rose, features a cast of over 400 and stars the multiple Emmy and Golden Globe award-winning actress Jane Seymour and legendary Broadway actor and Tony nominee Lee Roy Reams. The Christmas Rose, with music and story by PBS composer Tim Janis, follows a young orphan named Annabelle, played by thirteen year old Bailey Grey, into the desert where she crosses paths with everyone from the three wise men and singing angels to Mary and Joseph, while being pursued by a team of desert bandits. The Christmas Rose is created in association with the Ogunquit Playhouse and is on stage at Carnegie Hall one night only Thursday, November 29 at 6:30 p.m. Tickets are available by calling (212) 247-7800 or online at www.carnegiehall.org. Baritone Thomas Hampson will step into one of his favorite roles, Verdi's Simon Boccanegra, for a Lyric Opera of Chicago production led by Sir Andrew Davis (Oct 15-Nov 9). Also this month, on October 18th, Hampson will give one of his acclaimed SONG OF AMERICA recitals in Akron, Ohio, with longtime colleague Kevin Murphy. (more...)

Baritone Thomas Hampson - fresh from induction into the American Academy of Arts and Sciences - looks forward to a blockbuster October in the US. The singer joins the Collegiate Chorale and the Israel Philharmonic under Zubin Mehta at Carnegie Hall tonight, October 25th, for a concert featuring Schoenberg's Kol Nidre and the New York premiere of Noam Sheriff's MECHAYE HAMETIM - a program that was greeted rapturously when Hampson performed it with the same forces at the Salzburg Festival this summer. The Collegiate Chorale announces its encore performance with the Israel Philharmonic Orchestra of Arnold Schoenberg's Kol Nidre and Israeli composer Noam Sheriff's Mechaye Hametim (Revival of the Dead), which they performed this summer at the Salzburg Festival. Thomas Hampson Continues 2012 Summer Tour in Israel, Salzburg, Santa Fe, Berlin and More

Thomas Hampson - recently honored by the Metropolitan Opera Guild with the third installment of its prestigious "Met Mastersinger" series -started his summer at the Zurich Opera, where he brought "sensuality, warmth, and depth" (Die Welt) to the title role of Hindemith's Mathis der Maler. Next the baritone joins the Prague Symphony Orchestra for the world premiere of Sylvia Bodorova's orchestral song cycle Linqua Angelorum ("The Language of Angels"), before performing Bloch, Mahler, and Noam Sheriff on multiple dates in Israel and at the Salzburg Festival with Zubin Mehta and the Israel Philharmonic; portraying Puccini's Scarpia in Tosca at the Santa Fe Opera; and singing Charles Ives with the Mahler Chamber Orchestra under Kent Nagano in Berlin. Hampson also appears in recital with pianist Wolfram Rieger in Austria, singing lieder by Schumann, Mahler, and Dvorak at the Salzburg Festival and songs by Barber and Schumann in Grafenegg. In a return engagement with the Israel Philharmonic Orchestra (IPO), The Collegiate Chorale will perform 11 concerts in Tel Aviv and Haifa with the IPO under the baton of renowned conductors Zubin Mehta and Riccardo Muti. They will then travel with the IPO to Austria to make their Salzburg Festival debut, the first performance there by an American choir since the Chicago Symphony Chorus appeared in 1989. (more...)
