Seven is the perfect number. Thursday night marked my seventh time seeing the hit musical “Wicked.” Here’s the countdown: Twice in San Francisco in high school, once in New York as a high school graduation present, three times in Chicago to see a family friend in the cast, and, now, once in Sacramento where the mind blowing show — as so many have called it — plays through June 17 at the Community Center Theater. Peter Nero, Music Director of Peter Nero and the Philly POPS today announced its next concert series, Broadway’s Most Wicked Villains, at The Kimmel Center for the Performing Arts in Philadelphia on May 9th and 11th at 8:00 p.m. and May 12th and 13th at 3:00 p.m. The final POPS concert series of the 2011/2012 Season will feature Alli Mauzey, Nicole Parker and Ryan Silverman. ABC has unveiled its summer schedule, featuring the return of Rookie Blue as the only scripted show. The second seasons of reality series Secret Millionaire and Extreme Makeover: Weight Loss Edition and another installment of summer staples Wipeout and Bachelorette will also air during the summer months. ABC’s new programming offerings this summer include the previously announced singing competition Duets, the improv comedy series Trust Us With Your Life and the mystery docu-series Final Witness. Each year hundreds of students receive valuable musical theatre training through BDF programs offered in partnership with Omaha Performing Arts and Philadelphia’s Kimmel Center for the Performing Arts. The Broadway Dreams Foundation presented their Third Annual New York Benefit Performance at the Florence Gould Hall (55 East 59th Street) on Monday, November 21, 2011. The special evening, which only happens once a year in NYC, got a spontaneous ovation after a non-stop, 100 minute show, which showed off the talents of BDF students and faculty that assembled from across the country to perform and to show the audience what they were about.
