Downton Abbey meets Broadway! BWW can report that Dan Stevens, star of the Golden Globe-winning series Downton Abbey, will play the role of Morris Townsend opposite Academy Award nominee Jessica Chastain (Catherine Sloper) and Academy Award nominee and Emmy Award winner David Strathairn (Dr. Austin Sloper) in the Tony Award-winning play The Heiress. Written by Ruth Goetz & Augustus Goetz, The Heiress will be directed by Tony Award nominated playwright and director Moisés Kaufman. Performances will begin October 2012 at a theatre to be announced.

According to Deadline, Nicole Kidman has signed on to star in another David Lindsay-Abaire work- a film adaptation of Kevin Wilson's 'The Family Fang.' Kidman previously appeared in the film version of Lindsay-Abaire's 'Rabbit Hole.' Kidman will also produce the film. ( more...)

The Old Globes 2012-13 Season will feature the World Premieres of two new musicals: Allegiance A New American Musical by Jay Kuo and Lorenzo Thione and A Gentlemans Guide to Love and Murder by Robert L. Freedman and Steven Lutvak. The season also includes George Bernard Shaws Pygmalion in celebration of the classic plays 100th anniversary and the World Premiere of a new adaptation of Henrik Ibsens A Dolls House by Anne-Charlotte Hanes Harvey and Kirsten Brandt. Two recent Broadway hits will make their San Diego debuts at the Globe: David Lindsay-Abaires Good People and Jon Robin Baitzs Other Desert Cities.
