Westport Country Playhouse to Stage Joan Didion’s THE YEAR OF MAGICAL THINKING, 6/12-30

Westport Country Playhouse will stage the National Book Award-winning memoir, “The Year of Magical Thinking” by Joan Didion, June 12 – 30, featuring noted actress Maureen Anderman as Didion. Directed by Nicholas Martin, the play is based on the author’s actual experience rebuilding her life during the year after her spouse’s death and her capacity to emerge strengthened from even the most shattering of life’s trials. Kimberly Senior to Direct LCT3's DISGRACED; Opens 11/18

LCT3 will open its 2012-2013 season with DISGRACED, a new play by Ayad Akhtar, directed by Kimberly Senior beginning Monday, October 15 through Sunday, November 18 at LCT3Â’s new home at Lincoln Center Theater, the Claire Tow Theater (150 West 65 Street). Opening night is Monday, October 22. LCT3 is producing this New York premiere of DISGRACED by arrangement with the Araca Group. (more...)

The Old Globe’s 2012-13 Season will feature the World Premieres of two new musicals: Allegiance – A New American Musical by Jay Kuo and Lorenzo Thione and A Gentleman’s Guide to Love and Murder by Robert L. Freedman and Steven Lutvak. The season also includes George Bernard Shaw’s Pygmalion in celebration of the classic play’s 100th anniversary and the World Premiere of a new adaptation of Henrik Ibsen’s A Doll’s House by Anne-Charlotte Hanes Harvey and Kirsten Brandt. Two recent Broadway hits will make their San Diego debuts at the Globe: David Lindsay-Abaire’s Good People and Jon Robin Baitz’s Other Desert Cities. Rounding out the season are the West Coast Premiere of Bekah Brunstetter’s Be a Good Little Widow and the Southern California Premiere of Tarell Alvin McCraney’s The Brothers Size. (more...)

Westport Country Playhouse will host its third annual open house, “Playhouse Community Day,” on Saturday, April 14, 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., offering a wide variety of family activities, backstage tours, displays and historic artifacts, insight on the upcoming 2012 season and ticket discounts throughout the day. Christopher Durang, Edward Albee and Shakespeare Set for McCarter Theatre Center 2012-13 Season, Princeton

Lincoln Center Theater has announced two productions that will open this fall: a 75th Anniversary production of the Clifford OdetsÂ’ classic GOLDEN BOY, to be directed by Bartlett Sher beginning performances Thursday November 8 and opening Monday, December 3 at a Broadway theatre to be announced; and the New York premiere of VANYA AND SONIA AND MASHA AND SPIKE a new play by Christopher Durang, to be directed by Nicholas Martin, beginning performances Thursday, October 25 and opening Monday, November 12 at the Mitzi E.
