Victor Maog, Artistic Director of Second Generation (2g), a theatre company that puts Asian-American stories on the world stage, announced today that over 30 multi-ethnic artists will be featured in 2G: SIXTEEN GOING ON SEVENTEEN, which will play Joe's Pub, 425 Lafayette Street,on Monday, June 24, at 7pm. BWW Interviews: Tony LePage on New Air Supply Musical LOST IN LOVE by Kelly Cameron - Jun 16, 2013
Musical Theatre and 80s rock are about to collide once again as a new project gets off the ground this Tuesday in New York City. Lost in Love is a modern day retelling of Shakespeare's classic Midsummer's Night's Dream set to the music of Air Supply and starring Constantine Maroulis and Kate Rockwell. Featuring sixteen Air Supply songs and new Music and Lyrics by Graham Russell, the show is an attempt to merge two mediums and introduce a new audience to the joy of live musical theatre. FST to Present 5th Annual Sarasota Improv Festival, 7/12-13 by BWW News Desk - Jun 13, 2013
After the snowbirds have gone and the sun is searing, the 5th Annual Sarasota Improv Festival returns on July 12 and 13 for two nights of non-stop comedy with 16 of the hottest groups on the national improv scene. Acts from Chicago, Boston, Austin, Miami, Atlanta and everywhere in between will perform on the Cabaret stage in the festival that Sarasota Magazine called "high-energy" and the Sarasota Herald-Tribune called "hilarious." Pricing varies, with passes available for the weekend at $59, nightly at $49, individual shows at $10/each, and Special Event tickets at $25. Workshops are also on sale and are $29 for a two hour session with a professional improv group. Philadelphia Young Playwrights has kicked off its 25th anniversary celebration by announcing the launch of the Paula Vogel Mentors Project, a living award honoring the Pulitzer Prize-winning playwright and teacher and extending her mentorship legacy. The three-year pilot program will bring together five acclaimed professional playwrights as mentors for five promising young playwright fellows, who will embark on yearlong playwriting journeys. Hangar Theatre kicks off its 2013 season on June 13th with Neil Simon's irresistible comedy Last of the Red Hot Lovers, which runs through June 29. Featuring a stellar cast including three Broadway favorites, this seminal work will be directed by Hangar Associate Artistic Director Jesse Bush. Last of the Red Hot Lovers had its original Broadway run from 1969-1971 and received four Tony nominations, including for Best Play. The Hangar production features the talents of Jordan Gelber (Broadway's Avenue Q, All My Sons, Elf) as Barney Cashman, Jennifer Cody (Shrek, Urinetown) as Elaine Navazio, Leenya Rideout (Company, War Horse, Cabaret) as Jeannette Fisher, and Natalie Walker as Bobbi Michele. Founded in 1913 by 112 actors, AEA is the oldest performing arts union. NETworks Presentations LLC's Founder and CEO Kenneth Gentry has just announced the addition of Orin Wolf to its executive staff. Effective July 1, 2013, Orin will join the company as President, with co-founder Scott W. Scandinavian American Theater Company will present the US Premiere of GORILLA by Rhea Leman. The Danish premiere was just nominated for the 2013 Reumert Award (the Danish equivalent of the Tony Award) for Best Playwrighting.
