Paul O'Dette's ¡JACARAS! Inaugurates New GEMAS Concert Series at Americas Society Tonight, 11/9 by BWW News Desk - Nov 09, 2012
Gotham Early Music Scene (GEMS), as part of its milestone Fifth Anniversary celebration, announces "GEMAS," a new series of early music concerts in collaboration with the Americas Society featuring the early music of the Americas. The series will be co-directed by Americas Society Music Director Sebastian Zubieta and the celebrated soprano Nell Snaidas. The opening concert, by lutenist Paul O'Dette, will be performed tonight, November 9, 7:00 p.m., at Americas Society, 680 Park Avenue (between 68th and 69th Streets). This concert is part of Carnegie Hall's "Voices from Latin America" series this fall, which partners with outside organizations for performances in venues throughout the city. (more...)

Gotham Early Music Scene (GEMS), an organization that enriches public understanding and appreciation of early music in New York City, has played a major role in revitalizing the early music community since its founding in 2007. GEMS will be celebrating its milestone fifth anniversary this October through January, beginning with a gala concert and reception tonight, October 4, 2012 at 7:30 p.m. at the New York Society for Ethical Culture, 2 West 64th Street, in Manhattan. Tickets are $40 for the concert alone, or $125 for the concert and reception. (more...)

El Mundo Kicks off Houston Early Music Season, 10/12 by BWW News Desk - Aug 16, 2012
Grammy-nominated ensemble El Mundo will kick off the Houston Early Music season with a program of 17th- and 18th-century Spanish, Italian and Latin American music at Salem Evangelical Lutheran Church on Friday, October 12, at 7:30 p.m. Part of the Hispanic Heritage Series, the program is titled "The Kingdoms of Castille" and will feature music from the group's CD of the same name, nominated for a Grammy Award last year.
