The Public Theater's world premiere production of FEBRUARY HOUSE, with music and lyrics by Gabriel Kahane and book by Seth Bockley, opened last night, May 22, at The Martinson Theater. Fiorello H. LaGuardia High School of Music & Art and the Performing Arts is proud to announce the world premiere of Life Of The Party, a light opera for dark times. Following the huge success of last year's production of Kismet, director Paul Lincoln and the LaGuardia High School Opera Workshop tackle this completely original work, written and composed by Tony Award nominees Laurence O'Keefe (Legally Blonde, Bat Boy) and Nell Benjamin (Legally Blonde, Pirates!). The show plays a strictly limited run, with performances May 3rd, 4th and 5th at 7:30pm and May 6th at 2:00pm. (more...)

Joining Jamie on this spring evening were classical violinist Daisy Jopling, comedy's lovable Queen of Mean, Lisa Lampanelli, ten-time MAC Award winner and three-time Bistro Award winner Karen Mason (Wonderland, Mamma Mia!); Tony Award nominee Valarie Pettiford (Fosse, Sophisticated Ladies), writer/comedian/political satirist and CBS & Food Channel personality Mo Rocca and award-winning songwriter (The River, Garth Brooks; Nobody Wants To Be Lonely, Ricky Martin & Christina Aguilera) and recording artist, Victoria Shaw. MCC THEATER has just announced another all-star line-up for the company’s highly anticipated annual gala, to be held Monday, March 26, 2012 at The Hammerstein Ballroom (311 West 34th Street). Miscast 2012 will honor the creators of Carrie, Academy Award-winning composer Michael Gore (Fame, Terms of Endearment), Academy Award-winning lyricist Dean Pitchford (Fame, Footloose) and Writer Lawrence D. Cohen (screenwriter of the classic film, Carrie) for their bold, daring, risk-taking spirit. Funds raised from Miscast help MCC Theater produce some of the most talked-about new work Off Broadway and support their Youth Company and in-school partnerships that serve New York City public high school students, as well as their literary development work with emerging playwrights.
