It’s a summer “homecoming” for Goodman Theatre audiences! On July 30, Chicago’s theater since 1925 will resume live, in-person performances following a 16-month COVID-19 pandemic period of darkened stages.

Signature Theatre will present The Watering Hole (June 22-July 25), an immersive theatrical installation conceived and created by Lynn Nottage and acclaimed writer, director, and curator Miranda Haymon, bringing together multidisciplinary artists of color in an expansive reimagining of theatrical space.

Stage Directors and Choreographers Foundation, the not-for-profit foundation of Stage Directors and Choreographers Society, today announced the recipient and six finalists for the inaugural Barbara Whitman Award. Established by theatrical producer Barbara Whitman, the award recognizes a female, trans, or non-binary early-career director who has demonstrated a unique vision in their work with an unrestricted $10,000 cash prize.

Roundabout Theatre Company has announced current Roundabout Directors Group member Sivan Battat as the 2021-2022 Directing Fellow. The Roundabout Directing Fellowship was launched in 2017 to create a long-term, meaningful relationship between Roundabout and a young director.

The Martin E. Segal Theatre Center has announced the new line-up of its new global series, SEGAL TALKS. Since the beginning in March the series featured close to 100 talks with 150 artists from 50 countries.
