Composer/lyricist Neil Bartram and book writer Brian Hill, Drama Desk Nominated authors of Broadway's The Story of My Life, will workshop their newest musical Something Wicked This Way Comes, adapted from the novel by Ray Bradbury, with the Weitzenhoffer School of Musical Theatre at the University of Oklahoma in October 2012. The Lyceum Theatre Company, Scotland's largest producing theatre, collaborates with the National Theatre of Scotland for The Guid Sisters, from the original French Qučbecois Les Belles-Soeurs by Michel Tremblay, translated by Bill Findlay and Martin Bowman and directed by Serge Denoncourt. The show runs now through 13th October 2012 Lyceum Theatre, Edinburgh. The Guid Sisters will transfer to the King's Theatre, Glasgow from 23-27 October 2012. 2012/13 is a season of anniversaries and "firsts". It's Alumnae's 40th year in this historic building at 70 Berkeley Street. It's the 25th anniversary of the New Ideas Festival. And for those keeping track, the company is closing in on Alumnae's 100th birthday - February 2013 will mark # 95! Alumnae will officially celebrate its 100th season in 2019/2020 and present Moliere's Les Femmes Savantes, which was Alumnae Theatre's very first production, in February 1918. (more...)

Richard Rose Receives TAPA's 2012 Barbara Hamilton Memorial Award by BWW News Desk - Jun 05, 2012
Barbara Hamilton Memorial Award was inaugurated in 1996 and is given to a Canadian artist who demonstrates excellence in the performing arts and is dedicated to advocating and being an ambassador for the arts in Canada. The Barbara Hamilton Memorial Award is sponsored by the City of Toronto, and the recipient is awarded with a scroll and a cheque for $1,000 from the City. (more...)
