Lincoln Center Names Next President: Jed Bernstein Steps in Beginning January 2014

The Lincoln Center Board of Directors has unanimously selected Jed Bernstein, theater producer and educator, as its next president. The announcement was made today by Katherine Farley, Lincoln Center Board Chair. He will succeed Reynold Levy, who will step down as president in January, 2014. (more...)

The New York City Department of Parks & Recreation Seeks Applicants for New Conservation Corps

The New York City Department of Parks & Recreation is seeking applicants for the new NYC Parks Fellowship and Conservation Corps Program. Announced by Mayor Michael R. Bloomberg in his 2013 State of the City address, the Conservation Corps will help to improve the resiliency of New York City's parks and beaches by engaging a group of 30 participants in public service and introducing them to park management, horticulture, environmental education and recreation, conservation, and sustainability. Beginning September 2013, the Conservation Corps program will support priority projects, provide valuable work experience, and foster the next generation of leaders dedicated to protecting and enhancing the City's parks and natural resources. New York City Mayor Bloomberg Set to Proclaim 'MARCH IS CABARET MONTH'

New York City Mayor Michael R. Bloomberg will issue a proclamation declaring March "Cabaret Month" in honor of a tradition long observed by New York City club owners. The proclamation will be presented at the Cabaret Hotline Anniversary Gala at the Laurie Beechman Theater on March 6th. Vocalist Craig Pomranz, who spearheaded the campaign to get the Mayor on board, will accept the document on behalf of the cabaret community including the organizations: Manhattan Association of Cabarets and Clubs (MAC), Cabaret Hotline, and The Mabel Mercer Foundation, which presents the annual Cabaret Convention each October. NYC Parks Restores Carrère Memorial Stairs at Riverside Park

NYC Parks announces the completion of the restoration of the John Merven Carrere Memorial Stairs at Riverside Park, located at West 99th Street and Riverside Drive. The renovations were funded with capital allocations of $375,000 from Mayor Michael R. Bloomberg and $300,000 from Manhattan Borough President Scott M. Stringer. (more...)

In keeping with the stature of the event, guests will be treated to a performance by Audra McDonald, 2012 Tony Award winner named Best Actress in a Musical for her starring role in Gershwin's classic Porgy and Bess.
