The Old Globe's Season Will Include THE FEW, THE LAST GOODBYE and More

Old Globe Artistic Director Barry Edelstein's inaugural season kicks off with The Last Goodbye, a new musical that marries Shakespeare's Romeo and Juliet and the electrifying songs of the legendary singer-songwriter Jeff Buckley. As previously announced, the rock musical is directed by two-time Tony Award nominee Alex Timbers (Peter and the Starcatcher, Bloody Bloody Andrew Jackson) with choreography by Sonya Tayeh ("So You Think You Can Dance"). The 2013-14 Season will also feature the World Premieres of The Few by Samuel D. Hunter and Dog and Pony, a new musical by Rick Elice and Michael Patrick Walker. Edelstein will make his Old Globe directorial debut with Shakespeare's The Winter's Tale. Rounding out the season are the California Premiere of Pulitzer Prize winner Water by the Spoonful by Quiara Alegria Hudes, the West Coast Premiere of Bethany by Laura Marks, the J.B. Priestley classic Time and the Conways and Christopher Durang's current Broadway hit Vanya and Sonia and Masha and Spike. (more...)

God has heard our prayers. He knew we were all longing for some hot guys to come and teach us all about his divine wisdom and make us laugh along the way. And so he has sent us the Seattle Musical Theatre production of 'Altar Boyz' to show us the path. Not only do they have some incredible voices, sexy gyrations and hilarious characters but these Boyz and director Troy Wageman managed to make the Boyz more personable and empathetic than I've seen in previous productions, making their story all the more meaningful. Anticipating the initial run to be a huge success, Altar Boyz will reprise the final stop for a national 'Raise the Praise' tour of a Christian boy band in the Next Stage at Theatre Memphis January 10 - 20, 2013. The musical satire, Altar Boyz, features characters Matthew, Mark, Luke, Juan and Abraham as they perform to save souls and keep count of the unsaved in the audience. (more...)
