Art of Time Ensemble's popular Source & Inspiration series, a season highlight, returns this April to showcase the connection between classical and pop music. Taking place tonight, April 5 and the 6th, Schubert: Source & Inspiration pays homage to Franz Schubert, featuring his epic Piano Trio No. 2, as well as original songs inspired by his music and written by some of Canada's leading pop singer-songwriters, including Carole Pope, Andy Maize, Danny Michel, Martin Tielli and John Southworth. A world of independent film comes to "Everybody's Hometown" as the 6th Annual Media Film Festival prepares to screen outstanding work by local, national and international filmmakers. The 2 day festival takes place Friday, April 5th and Saturday April 6th at the Media Borough Community Center, 3rd and Monroe Streets. Sponsored by the Franklin Mint Federal Credit Union, the Media Film Festival is a juried presentation of outstanding narrative, documentary, animated and experimental films. Admission is $10. The Lark Play Development Center in collaboration with Mexico's National Fund for Culture and Arts (FONCA) has announced the 2012 U.S./Mexico Playwright Exchange Program. For the seventh year, the Lark will host playwrights from Mexico and pair them with U.S. playwrights, actors, and directors for a ten day cultural exploration which establishes ongoing channels of communication between artists in both countries. This year's exchange is presented in partnership with Mexican Cultural Institute. (more...)

Limited Tickets On Sale October 2nd For Little Kids Rock Charity Benefit Honoring Steven Van Zandt by BWW News Desk - Oct 01, 2012
On Tuesday, October 2nd at 9 am EDT, a limited number of tickets will go on sale at littlekidsrock.org/tickets for the Right to Rock Celebration - a charity benefit for Little Kids Rock that will feature performances of Steven Van Zandt's music by an epic lineup including Elvis Costello, Dion DiMucci, Tom Morello, Darlene Love, Southside Johnny, Kris Allen, Ruben Blades, Gary U.S. Bonds, Michael Des Barres, Michael Johns, Jesse Malin, Jake Clemons, NYC Hit Squad and other surprise guests expected to attend. Actress Maureen Van Zandt and E Street Band drummer Max Weinberg will co-chair the event, which is sponsored by the House of Marley and 1Love and will take place on Tuesday, October 16th, in New York City at the Manhattan Center Grand Ballroom.

Before Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band finish the second U.S. leg of its world tour, many of its members will attend Little Kids Rock's 10th anniversary Right to Rock Celebration, sponsored by the House of Marley and 1Love. On October 16th in New York city Steven Van Zandt will be presented with the 'Big Man of The Year Award,' given annually to honor the legacy of the late, great Clarence Clemons. Van Zandt joins past honorees Lady Gaga and The Big Man himself. The event is being co-chaired by actress Maureen Van Zandt and E Street Band drummer Max Weinberg. (more...)

Michael Phelps, the most-decorated Olympian of all time with 20 medals, swims for his final gold medal of the London Olympics tonight, Saturday, August 4, in the 4x100 medley relay. Phelps will swim the butterfly leg. Missy Franklin is expected to anchor the women's 4x100 medley relay in the freestyle leg. Also in primetime, reigning world champion Carmelita Jeter is expected to sprint for the gold in the women's 100m on the track tomorrow night. (more...)

On 19 February at the Prince of Wales Theatre, West End and Broadway star Kerry Ellis (Wicked, We Will Rock You, Oliver!) was voted Winner of the Jo Hutchinson International Best Solo Performance at the WhatsonStage Awards (2012). Kerry Ellis will next be appearing at the Royal Albert Hall, in another production produced and directed by Hugh Wooldridge, for the benefit of Leukaemia & Lymphoma Research, The Night of 1000 Voices, on Bank Holiday Sunday, tonight, May 6.
