Wei Liu (Artistic Director of Wu Han Peking Opera Company of China) is an award-winning Peking Opera performing artist. She is a Level-One Performing Artist of China*, and is known for her performance as virtuous and elite female characters (Qingyi). In her thirty-plus-year performing experience, she has created many original roles that received endless raves. Ms. Liu is also the youngest performer to ever receive two Plum Performance Awards, the highest honor to receive in the Performing Arts in China. Under her leadership, Wu Han Peking Opera Company has been continuously selected as one of Top Ten Peking Opera Company in China for many years.

'Broadway Stands Up for Freedom,' a celebratory event in honor of the recent Supreme Court victory for the freedom to marry, will boast performances by some of Broadway's finest tonight, July 20, at the NYU Skirball Center for Performing Arts (566 LaGuardia Place).

The New York Civil Liberties Union, the New York State affiliate of the ACLU, announced today that more performers have joined the star-studded lineup for its annual benefit concert. "Broadway Stands Up for Freedom," a celebratory event in honor of the recent Supreme Court victory for the freedom to marry, will boast performances by some of Broadway's finest on Monday, July 20, at the NYU Skirball Center for Performing Arts (566 LaGuardia Place). BalletCollective's 2015 season will include its first performance at the Vail International Dance Festival, a residency at the Millbrook School, a residency at the Palm Theater in Telluride, and performances in New York City that will feature two world premiere ballets that showcase the company's commitment to artistic collaboration, today announced company director Troy Schumacher.

The cast is led by Tony Award winners Chita Rivera as Claire Zachannassian and Roger Rees as Anton Schell, with George Abud as Karl, Jason Danieley as Frederich Kuhn, Matthew Demingas Louis Perch, Diana Dimarzio as Annie Dummermut, Tony Award nominee David Garrison as Peter Dummermut, Rick Holmes as Father Josef, Tom Nelis as Rudi, Chris Newcomer as Jacob Chicken, Mary Beth Peil as Matilde Schell, Aaron Ramey as Otto Hahnke, Elena Shadow as Ottilie, Timothy Shew as Hans Nusselin, with John Riddle and Michelle Veintimilla. For three special nights this winter, NYU SKIRBALL CENTER FOR THE PERFORMING ARTS (Michael Harrington, Executive Director) invites New York audiences to discover the global movement to revolutionize the circus. CIRCUS NOW: INTERNATIONAL CONTEMPORARY CIRCUS EXPOSURE 2015 will be presented from January 8 through 10 at NYU Skirball (566 LaGuardia Place) with the support of the circus development organization Circus Now. The Festival will feature over 50 international artists and challenge audiences to reimagine their perception of a timeless art.

This spring, NATIONAL GEOGRAPHIC will team up with NYU SKIRBALL CENTER FOR THE PERFORMING ARTS (Michael Harrington, Executive Director) to bring its acclaimed speaker series National Geographic Live to New York City for the very first time. One of the oldest programs in National Geographic's history, Nat Geo Live will take place over multiple dates this spring at NYU Skirball (566 LaGuardia Place) and feature speakers Paul Nicklen, Carsten Peter, Jodi Cobb, and Kobie Boykins.

BalletCollective will present two world premiere ballets that showcase the company's commitment to artistic collaboration tonight and tomorrow, October 29 and 30 at NYU Skirball Center, 566 LaGuardia Place at Washington Square. The program will include the company's The Impulse Wants Company (2013). All pieces will be accompanied by live music and feature lighting design by Brandon Stirling Baker.

New York, NY, October 23, 2014– UPDATE: Troy Schumacher, Artistic Director of BalletCollective, will now be performing with the company on October 29 and 30 at NYU Skirball Center. Mr. Schumacher is replacing Harrison Coll, who has sustained a minor injury and is unable to perform.

Written by Dale Wasserman, the show features music by Mitch Leigh and lyrics by Joe Darion. William Wesbrooks and MK Lawson direct.
