The Class of Cabaret performances are always well worth seeing

The 2017 Adelaide Cabaret Festival is officially under way.

A unique take on rock 'n' roll, a musical insight into family dynamics, an improvised one-man musical, a self-retrospective with Michelle Shocked and a show exploring the works of Annie Lennox, are to play in The Boards at the Edinburgh Playhouse this August.

With original songs in the style of Tim Minchin and Eddie Perfect, emerging singer/songwriter Josh Belperio will make his cabaret debut at the 2017 Adelaide Cabaret Fringe Festival, in Scarred for Life, from 22 to 24 June at 7.30pm (doors open at 7pm) in the Carclew Ballroom, 11 Jeffcott St, North Adelaide.

Chris Isaacson Presents has announced Australian cabaret sensation Michael Griffiths, making his West Coast debut with his show In Vogue: Songs by Madonna in San Diego and Hollywood in January, and Broadway's Tony Award-nominated Andrea McArdle performing her show '70s & Sunny in February.

The McCallum Theatre presents Cole starring Michael Griffiths on Friday, February 3, at 3:00pm and 8:00pm. Winner of the Helpmann Award, the Australian equivalent of the Tony Award, Australian cabaret performer Michael Griffiths explores the colorful life and timeless songs of Cole Porter. It's a tale of hedonism, grave misfortune and a legacy that sparkles with wit and wisdom.
