The White Heron Theatre Company today announced the cast for the reading of Samuel Hunter's new play, The Harvest, July 1 and 2 at 8 pm, at the Dreamland Theatre in Nantucket. The cast includes actors from Orange is the New Black, Ironwood, Mildred Pierce, Boardwalk Empire and the Sopranos not to mention numerous Broadway plays and projects including a Tony nomination for Its Only a Play.

Just last night, Drama Desk and Tony Award winner Laura Benanti ('The Sound of Music Live!', Gypsy, Women On The Verge of a Nervous Breakdown) hosted the 59th Annual Drama Desk Awards at The Town Hall (123 W. 43rd Street). Big winners for the night included Audra McDonald, Bryan Cranston, Jessie Mueller, and Neil Patrick Harris and Jefferson Mays- who tied for Outstanding Actor in a Musical.

The Playwrights Realm will present the annual INK'D Reading Festival from May 12 through May 15 at The Studio Theatre at Cherry Lane Theatre (38 Commerce Street). The 2014 festival features the plays of Elizabeth Irwin (My Mañana Comes), Lila Rose Kaplan (123), Jason Gray Platt (The There There) and Amelia Roper (Lottie in the Late Afternoon). As previously announced, My Mañana Comes will receive a full production at The Peter Jay Sharp Theater (416 West 42nd Street) from August 26 to September 20, 2014.

Eligibility and award category designations for the productions under consideration this season were determined by the Drama Desk board of directors with recommendations from the nominating committee. Because of the abundance of great work throughout the season, the Board also authorized the increase in the number of nominees allowed in select categories.

Signature Theatre has announced a one-week extension for the world premiere of Will Eno's, new play THE OPEN HOUSE, directed by Oliver Butler. The production will now play through Sunday, March 30. The show is currently playing in The Romulus Linney Courtyard Theatreat The Pershing Square Signature Center (480 West 42nd Street between 9th and 10th Avenues). This is the seventh year for the event in which excellent writers, directors, and actors come together to present two series of three one-act-shorts. SERIES A delivers a humorous look inside the psyche during the audition process, a fast-paced telling of a political candidate's first meeting with her running mate, and an imaginative retelling of a classic tale of a princess.

Gabriel Barre (Amazing Grace, Andrew Lippa's The Wild Party) directs.
