BroadwayWorld has confirmed that Broadway veteran Heidi Blickenstaff will lead Vermont's award-winning Weston Playhouse Theatre Company production of Next to Normal. Blickenstaff will play 'Diana' in the show, which is set to run July 11-27 and will be directed by Michael Berresse. (more...)

A.C.T. Announces Special Events in Association with THE NORMAL HEART

In association with the West Coast premiere of George C. Wolfe's Tony Award-winning production of The Normal Heart, Larry Kramer's landmark play focusing on the early days of the AIDS crisis in New York City in the 1980s, American Conservatory Theater (A.C.T.) will offer numerous special events through its InterACT series, designed to give patrons opportunities to get closer to the action while making a whole night out of their evening at the theater. Vineyard Theatre, Creators and Cast of NOW. HERE. THIS. Launch Original Cast Recording Kickstarter Campaign

The creators and cast of the musical NOW. HERE. THIS. and Vineyard Theatre, where the musical debuted Off-Broadway in March, have launched a campaign on Kickstarter.com to raise funds for an original cast recording of the album, it has been announced. The fundraising goal is $75,000 by August 30, 2012 and a mere three days after the effort was begun on Friday, August 3, the campaign has already met 50 percent of its goal. (more...)

American Conservatory Theater (A.C.T.) Artistic Director Carey Perloff announced today the casting for the West Coast premiere of The Normal Heart, Larry Kramer's landmark play focusing on the early years of the AIDS crisis in New York City in the 1980s. Directed by five-time Tony Award winner George C. Wolfe, The Normal Heart unfolds like a real-life political thriller as a tight-knit group of friends refuse to let doctors, politicians, and the press bury the truth about an epidemic ravaging the gay community behind a wall of silence. The Normal Heart performs a limited run September 13-October 7, 2012, at the American Conservatory Theater (415 Geary Street, San Francisco). Press night is Wednesday, September 19, at 8 p.m. The Normal Heart is presented in association with Arena Stage at the Mead Center for American Theater in Washington, D.C., by special arrangement with Daryl Roth. The producers of the forthcoming West End production of the Broadway musical [title of show] are pleased to confirm that the show is on track to open in 2013, adding that all members of the original Broadway cast (Hunter Bell, Susan Blackwell, Heidi Blickentaff, Jeff Bowen, and Larry Pressgrove), together with the director and choreographer who helmed the show's 2008 Broadway run (Michael Berresse) have all confirmed their intention to reprise their roles for the London run subject to final scheduling.
