Academy Award winner and playwright Tarell Alvin McCraney's 'Head of Passes' opened yesterday, September 24th, at the Mark Taper Forum. Directed by Tina Landau, the poetic and powerful new play, which is part of Center Theatre Group's 50th anniversary season at the Taper, continues through October 22, 2017. Lincoln Center Theater has announced that it will bring the critically-acclaimed, Drama Desk and Obie award-winning production of THE WOLVES, a new play by Sarah DeLappe, directed by Lila Neugebauer, to the Mitzi E. Newhouse Theater this fall. 

The 62nd Annual Drama Desk Awards, hosted by Michael Urie, were held at The Town Hall (123 W. 43rd Street) tonight, June 4th.

In this week's special edition, we caught up with playwrights from Ensemble Studio Theatre's Marathon of One-Act Plays. Series A features El Grande by Maggie Diaz Bofill, How My Grandparents Fell in Love by Cary Gitter, The Fork by Emily Chadick Weiss, Showtime Blues by France-Luce Benson, and Blue Handed by David Zellnik. The American Theatre Wing (Heather Hitchens, President) and The Village Voice (Peter Barbey, Owner) are thrilled to announce the winners of the 62nd Annual Obie Awards®. Jennifer Kidwell & Scott R. Sheppard's Underground Railroad Game, produced by Ars Nova, and J.T. Roger's Oslo, produced by Lincoln Center Theater, shared the Obie Awards for Best New American Theatre Work, which is accompanied by a $500 prize each. Pulitzer Prize-winning playwright Paula Vogel received a special Obie Award for Lifetime Achievement. Obie and Screen Actors Guild® Award-winning actress Lea DeLaria returned as host of this year's ceremony, which was held at Webster Hall (125 East 11th Street). Earlier this morning, Laura Benanti (She Loves Me, Gypsy) and Javier Muñoz (Hamilton, In the Heights) announced the nominations for the 62nd Annual Drama Desk Awards.

Three-time Emmy and Tony Award nominee Kate Burton will be joining the faculty of the USC School of Dramatic Arts as professor and master artist, beginning in fall 2017. Burton, who is currently starring with Kevin Kline in the Broadway revival of Noel Coward's backstage comedy, Present Laughter, is recognized as one of the industry's most versatile actresses.

Among the finalists announced by the Audio Publishers Association (APA) for the 2017 Audie Awards, Recorded Books Inc., Tantor Media, HighBridge and christianaudio received 14 nominations across a wide range of categories, including Best Male Narrator.

'Hurricane Diane,' a World Premiere show, is now being performed at Two River Theater (TRT) through February 12th. Commissioned by TRT, this boldly creative theatrical piece is written by Pulitzer Prize Nominee Madeleine George and directed by Leigh Silverman.

Choreographer Sonya Tayeh is working with Two River Theater on the upcoming production, 'Hurricane Diane.' Written by Madeleine George and directed by Leigh Silverman, the show will be on the Red Bank stage from January 14th to February 12th.
