'Wicked' Celebrates 5th Anniversary With Series of Events; Empire State Building to Glow Green 10/30

In honor of its 5th Anniversary on Broadway on October 30, the blockbuster musical Wicked will host several special events and promotions throughout the month of October. Highlights include THE YELLOW BRICK ROAD NOT TAKEN, a one-night-only benefit performance featuring songs and scenes cut from early drafts of the musical, as well as two of New York's most recognizable landmarks going green in honor of our anniversary: on October 27, the Empire State Building will glow green for the night and on October 30, Playbill's trademark yellow banner will be specially printed green, the first time in the publication's history that it has altered its masthead. NYMF Announces 2008 'Best of Fest' Award Winners

The New York Musical Theater Festival concluded its fifth season on October 5th having presented 241 performances over the course of 21 days. A record-breaking 25,000 people, selling the festival to 87.5% of capacity, attended the festival. Over 75% of productions had sold-out performances, and 11 productions extended their runs to accommodate demand. (more...)

'Hairspray' Tony Winner Returns To Ft. Lauderdale

This fun musical, winner of eight 2003 Tony ® Awards including Best Musical, is currently enjoying its 5th year on Broadway. The 2007 West End production of HAIRSPRAY was nominated for a record-breaking 11 Olivier Awards and nabbed four, including the top category, Best New Musical, and also won Best New Musical in all of Britain's other top awards programs, including the Evening Standard, Critic's Circle, and Whatsonstage Awards. Tickets will go on sale to the general public on September 5 for THE YELLOW BRICK ROAD NOT TAKEN, a one-night-only, all-star benefit performance featuring scenes and songs from the original drafts of WICKED. Directed by Matt Lenz, the benefit will take place on Monday, October 27 at 7:30pm at the Gershwin Theatre (222 West 51st Street). The evening's proceeds will be donated to the New York Restoration Project. Celebrity casting will be announced in the coming weeks. (more...)

In this segment of IDAHO's Road to NYMF we meet some of the people behind the scenes and join six of our cast members, Rob Sutton, Elena Shaddow, Stacey Todd Holt, Beth Curry, Jennifer Perry and Blake Hammond on a photo shoot at the Queens County Farm.
