Simon Callow Stars in DR. MARIGOLD & MR. CHOPS Double Bill, 12/12 - 1/31

Whatsonstage.com is reporting that Simon Callow star in a double bill of two little-seen one-man holiday plays by Charles Dickens: Dr. Marigold and Mr. Chops at Riverside Studios. The productions will run from December 12 - January 31.

Tony award-winning performer Alan Cumming has been named an OBE (Officer of the Order of the British Empire) as part of the Queen's Birthday Honour List. Other comandees include Tony award winner Jonathan Pryce, who was named a CBE (Commander of the Order of the British Empire) and veteran Film and television actor Christopher Lee, who received a knighthood.

Fern Kershon and Orange Thought Productions will present Heart of the City, a new play by Eric Lane, directed by Martha Banta, featuring Eliza Foss, Scott Kerns, Marcia Jean Kurtz, Martin LaPlatney, Melissa Miller and Mark Setlock. Performances will begin Thursday June 11th at the Theatre at 30th Street, for a limited engagement.

Tony Award Winner Alan Cumming has been cast as the villian in 'Escape To Donegal'. The film is written by Chris Minori and will be directed by Jonathan Blitstein. According to comingsoon.net, the sci-fi psychological thriller is reportedly a stylized film set in a dystopian future. Cumming will play a villian named 'Stuart', but no other information is available at this time. Filming will take place in Brooklyn this fall.

The play opened on Broadway with Richard Gere in the lead role which the New York Times deemed 'powerful and provocative.' When I saw that magnificent production co-starring David Dukes, I thought that BENT was certainly one of the greatest plays I had ever seen. Prior to Broadway, it premiered in London starring Ian McKellan. Audiences have been mesmerized and moved by its scathing depiction of the persecution and encampment of gay men and Jews in Third Reich Germany. This powerful play was subsequently turned into a film with Clive Owen and Mick Jagger in 1997.

McIntyre, rounds out the season.
