This past Monday the theatre world lost someone who was arguably one of the finest performers of all time. Most people knew James Earl Jones as the voice of Darth Vader in the Star Wars movies or from the film Field of Dreams but for those of us who live and breathe theatre, we will always remember his performances onstage.

This February, BAM will pay tribute to groundbreaking actress Cicely Tyson, who passed away in 2021 and left behind a formidable legacy and a 60-year career that included several Emmys, a Tony Award, an honorary Oscar, and a Presidential Medal of Freedom.

Deadline has reported that Cicely Tyson has been announced as the recipient of the Peabody Awards' Career Achievement Award. The award is given to individuals whose work has left an incredible imprint on the field of broadcasting and digital media, as well as in American Culture.
